When employees say, "I don't have enough time to learn."

This is a phrase I see come up a lot on company surveys. From my L&D corner of the company, what can I do to help? I'm currently in the middle of writing up a Learning Culture proposal (because right now, the learning culture is pretty dismal), and would like to incorporate aspects that might help employees feel like they have the time they need to take trainings and continuously improve.

What should I be doing? Car in 90F heat

I was pampered with a garage for the past ten years, but now live in a place where my car sits outside all day. Today and tomorrow are in the 90sF, and I'll be honest, I don't really remember car etiquette when it comes to it sitting in the heat.

Growing up, I was taught to crack the windows and put a visor in the front windshield to block out the sun. Are those actually needed/helpful (beyond cooling the car off for my own comfort)? Can I leave my windows up? Should I be doing something else? I know the sun can impact paint, etc, over time, but there's nothing I can really do about that, as I have a designated parking spot at my building that's not shaded.

Any tips or reminders would be appreciated as I regain some basic cat knowledge 😅

Best Ways from Manchester to Boston Logan?

I recently moved to Manchester, so I'm not as familiar with the surrounding area yet. My friend is flying into Boston Logan in July to come visit; is there a fairly good way for her to travel up to Manchester from there, or is me driving to the airport to get her the best bet (when considering travel time, the hassle, etc)? I realize this is very subjective, but any ideas of different routes would be helpful to consider.

I'm wondering if a train or bus between the two (or to an outer suburb of Boston where I could pick her up from) would be better than braving rush hour traffic to BOS and back. 😅

Soft Skills Programs

I'm a one-person department and have been asked to create and facilitate a soft skills program (virtual live). I can research (and intuit) what this can look like, but figured I'd start here since I've never created (or attended) one of these before.

Some of the topics I was thinking about (as relevant to my company) were things like active listening, interpersonal communication, communicating with impact, and the like.

As you might imagine, I'm getting stuck with ensuring the sessions are engaging and interactive/full of practice. Any advice for making something like active listening or interpersonal communication really engaging and impactful? I was planning to create the content myself (after doing the research), but if there are any off the shelf recommendations, I would be open to that, too.

Getting back into hiking...in Switzerland?

Is it crazy to want to go on a hike through Switzerland when I haven't hiked in a long time (10 years)? I'm unsure how challenging Switzerland is (so recommendations would be great), and I'm not super in shape anymore, though I average 11k steps a day (so not completely sedentary).

Just relocated to New Hampshire, so I will be hiking this summer, but a fall trip to Switzerland sounds amazing right now!

Thoughts, words of wisdom, or alternative trip ideas would be welcomed! I'm choosing Switzerland because of its amazing vistas and so I can look around and exclaim, "Mountains, Gandalf!"
