IMO, the boring habits save you later. For mystery shopping, I take the receipt photo before I even start the car: one wide shot, one close shot, then I zoom in to check the date and total. I also keep a quick note with arrival time, exit time, restroom condition, and anything weird like missing signage. My past self has absolutely fumbled reports by trusting memory. What little system makes your reports easier?

As a shopper, I’ve learned not to look only at the shop fee. A company may offer a decent payout, but if the instructions are confusing or the report is too long, it may not feel worth it.

For me, the best mystery shopping companies are the ones with clear guidelines, fair deadlines, responsive schedulers, and on-time payments.

A smooth shop starts before the visit and continues until the payment is received.
