A couple questions before heading out

Heading out on 7/8 to Denver then hitting the trail the next morning. I have a couple miscellaneous questions that maybe people can answer. Thanks in advance.

- tarp or tent? Leaning towards the tent.

- viability of lixada solar panel and a 5000mah pack? Anyone done this or similar?

- 20° quilt? Do I need one this warm?

- fishing? I'm bringing a tenkara setup and wanted to see if anyone's had luck on the trail

- gaiters?

- what method did you use to get to Denver from Durango?

Frying Pan & Boiling Water

Thru hiking the Colorado Trail in July and I'm trying to figure out the best solution to be able to boil water and also pan fry fish. Has anyone found a good solution to the problem of doing both with one piece or are most people using two separate pieces?

I currently have a toaks 750ml and the msr ceramic skillet. I've been looking at offerings from trangia, evernew, and boundless voyage so far.

Thanks

New Rain Coat Input

I've enjoyed my Frogg Toggs ultralight jacket for some time, but I feel like it's time to finally spend a little cash on a longer-term jacket as I'm headed out to thru-hike the Colorado trail in July.

Looking at the War Bonnet "The Stash" or the Zpacks "Vertice". I'm 6'2" and have a pretty long torso. Anyone tried both before or have any input? Open to other suggestions, too.

Thanks

Altaplex repair, trust it?

Calling fellow altaplex owners. I saw one review on zpacks website about a hole in a similar spot... Has anyone else got a small hole in front of and below about 4-6" from the peak of the tent? I patched it with a dynema circle on front and back. Has anyone else done the same repair and how has it held up? I'm heading out to the Colorado trail in a couple months and don't want it to malfunction during the trip. Thanks!

Resupply Towns, No Hitchhiking?

Trying to do 20-30 miles a day, 5-ish day food carry max, little to no hitchhiking (busses are fine), and take Collegiate West.

Based on the databook and this subreddit, this is what I'm scheming on and would appreciate any input...

  • Breckenridge/Frisco, 104 miles from denver, free bus required
  • Twin Lakes Village, 71.8 miles from Breck/Frisco
  • Garfield, 76.5 miles from Twin Lakes, The Butterfly House Hostel with maildrop
  • Monarch Crest Gift Shop, 11 miles from garfield, only listing because its 0 miles from trail. Looks easy to grab some snacks for a days worth of food
  • Silverton, 159.8 miles from Garfield, hitching required?
