Rabbit, shorthand pattern

This short handed pattern assumes your hook and yarn are complimentary (3mm yarn with 2.75mm hook, 5mm yarn with 4.5mm hook, and so on);

And (unless there are special instructions) will note only the total number of stitches in each row.

~~~
-Rows will be separated by commas.
-All Parts Are Worked In The Round.
-The assumption is that you'll be increasing each row evenly (usually by 6 or by 3) for the whole project.
-When you see (___ x2) or (___x6) that means that's the total number of rows with that amount of stitches in it. For instance a row sequence that says 36x4 means that there are 4 total rows of 36.
-For more complicated patterns, rows that have specific instructions will be noted in brackets before the stitch count.
(Example: [(sc, inc)x6, sc18]36 –here, 36 is our stitch count and the brackets are the instructions for that one specific row.
If it said [(sc,inc)x6, sc18]36x6 then you would only use the special instructions for the first row, and sc in each st for the remainder of the row sequence.
-half rows are noted as (for instance) half8, half24, half15, etc. A half row is made by chaining half the stitch count of the row, skipping the same number of stitches as you chained, and then sc in each st to the rest of the row. Rows with an odd number of stitches should round down to the smallest “half” of its stitch count (so half of 15 would be 7, or half of 9 would be 4).
Example: half12 would translate to [ch6, sk6, sc6]. –Do Not Work In The Chains of your half rows.-- DO NOT WORK IN THE CHAINS OF YOUR HALF ROWS–
Nessie
Freehanded, like fr I did not write down a single stich of this pattern. I really wanted to try a new floating chain half-row technique for a more dramatic curve (where you'd work a half row around twice before completing the round) and Nessie turned out to be perfect for it. I just adore how she turned out!
Lost a game of yarn chicken
I really thought I had this one in the bag too cause I used a left over dupe for the feet, alas. The worst part?? This yarn only comes in a bundle so I cant just buy the one skein, I have to buy 12. And here I was literally just telling myself that I hadnt done a rabbit in along long time, and probably wouldnt do a rabbit again anyway cause the ears are yarn eaters and *so tedious* and then I looked at the lab rat and thought....okay but if I *was* to do a rabbit...?
And here I am paying for it, smdh
No pattern. Ill probably release a bundle when I'm done experimenting cause the dragon, lab rat, and rabbit all have the exact same base and it would be really cool to give folks the opportunity to mix and match details
Yarn is XINNUN velvet chenille with a 5mm hook
Was going for a doormouse, ended up with a lab rat. Not mad about it...
Now I kinda want to dress him up 🥹
No pattern, just pure joy ❤️
Yarn is "I LOVE YARN Chenille Velvet soft baby yarn" which is a small/almost-skinny velvet, and which I paired with a 3.5mm hook. The eyes are (I think 11mm?) saftey noses. Learned to do a foundation chain for the tail, cant belive I hadn't jumped on that before, 10/10 recommend.
Id like to work up a pattern at some point, but knowing me it could take 3 years or it could be ready to test in the morning, idk I surprise even myself sometimes. Maybe I could even (*gasp*) plan ahead and release it for the holidays WHO KNOWS we are stardust on a rock spinning thru space and Im counting knots turning them into strangely shaped beasts, like anything could happen really.
Sea Horse Pattern Tester Call
I really thought this was gonna take me forever but it was way easier to work up than I anticipated.
I dont have a deadline but I am an impatient little imp, so Im thinking I'd like to publish in the next week or 2. However, this pattern uses an unusual half row technique and I expect testers may want to take their time, so Im open to waiting.
I used NICEEC brand rainbow "candy" yarn for the rainbow one and XINNUN chenille yarn for the coral colored one but any yarn will work as long as your hook matches the gauge. It does not have to be chenille/velvet.
I also used XL safety noses for the eyes. This is not a requirement, and I'm curious to see what other types of eyes might look like.
I am looking for approx. 5 crocheters of various ability to help me test.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: thank yall so, so much for the overwhelming response! I so deeply appreciate this community. Im still going thru and responding to testers, but I definitely have enough volunteers as of rn. Stay tuned for the publishing sometime in mid-August. Ty ty ty!!
Sea Horse Buddy
Realized the base of that dragon I freehanded had some fun versatility. I used a rainbow gradient chenille I found on temu with a 3.5mm hook. No wires, the curve is generated using a continuous half row method. I will eventually be publishing this and other related patterns but its gonna be *awhile* cause I keep getting distracted with new pattern ideas (like this seahorse lol)
Another AI Inspired Dragon Friend
I really tried to lean into the theme on this one, including random gradient yarn and completely unnecessary ear embellishments. Think I fell short a little, like he needs some unevenly placed scales in a different guage from the rest of the project maybe?
Not looking at making a pattern for this one, just playing around for now
Baby Dragon Curled in a Sling Purse
Freehanded!!
Unfortunately I won't be making a pattern anytime in the foreseeable future. Normally I'm a really fast crocheter; I cant remember the last time a project took more than a couple days, even with work and kids and everything. This thing took me almost a week!! Writing a pattern means making another one when I'm already behind on consignments...so for now he is the lone of his kind while I catch up on inventory for my other endeavors and work on the patterns for the dragons that came before him.
In the meantime, he is SO CUTE and I'm so, so happy with how he turned out (even if I already know what I'll do different for the next one). It's amazing what can happen when we challenge ourselves. I cant tell you how stoked I am to take this little guy on his first flight around a ren faire, that's for sure!
Me vs AI, 🎬take 2 Electric Boogaloo: Fluttershy's Revenge
Worked the head up to 42 instead of 36, lengthened the arms, and reshaped the body by removing some half rows. Ratios are still a little off but I'm really happy with it. Ill be working up a pattern but it might could take awhile (the fetus took six years sad lolz). Big Thank You to whomever it was that suggested a Fluttershy color pallette, 10/10.
Me vs AI, take 1 🎬
This head shape is so cute, and I will be using it again in the future, but I dont think I got it quite right for this project. I also really liked the AI's color pallette but I'm out of purple, thus leading me to a Pinkie Pie inspired scheme that I'm not at all mad about. Sewing was also a challenge because everything had to go on at angle and I couldn't find my handy dandy knitting needles, ya know, for the stab stab. Alas. All in all I think it turned out okay for the first draft of an AI spite project.
Definitely not looking at making a pattern just yet.
Mini Dragon Charm Pattern testers needed
I need like 2 or 3 testers to look over this, give it a whirl, and tell me if I missed anything. The project itself can use scrap yarn, and only takes about an afternoon. I have made it using the same pattern in almost every gauge I can; as long as your hook and yarn match its workable in any size and I have listed 3 different sizes in the pattern itself. I'd like to have it back by the end of the week/weekend if possible. I could really use both beginner and experienced opinions, please.
Complicated Fetus Pattern
This is a weird one, no doubt about it, and I dont just mean cause its a fetus. There's half rows, theres funky decreases, theres rows whose last stitch far pass the last stitch of the row before it, its kind of a mess. But I really think if you just trust the process its a legible, well written pattern that gets us where we're going eventually. Or at least thats what I hope. And thats why I've come here, to see if some fellow weirdo out there will test this pattern and tell me if I did alright by it.
