I'm usually a doubles player (can play both mixed doubles and women's doubles) but recently my school is having trials for the team and they have decided to use half court singles as a way to rank the players from best to worst.

I really don't play singles so I just wanted to ask if anyone has any good strategy for playing half court singles especially since I think it's more difficult to move the opponent around since the space is halved. Also, as I'm a girl, should I be using the forehand high serve that a lot of women's singles players are using? Instead of the usual backhand serve for doubles.
