Mission: Accomplished

Back in July 2024 I was clocking in at 113kg having piled on the weight in lockdown. My Q-Risk score (chance of having a heart attack or stroke in the next 10 years) was a rather frightening 18.6% so knew something had to change.

By May 2025 I'd only managed to lose a few Kg, so started my Wegovy journey at 110kg, setting myself a goal weight on 75kg, and never quite expecting that I'd get there.

Today I clocked in at 74.6kg.

I got there.

Here's some stats for you:

  • My Q-Risk score is now 7.1%

  • By BMI has dropped from 35 to 23.6

  • My Cholesterol/HDL ratio has gone from 6.3 to 3.6 (a rather pleasing inversion)

Some other observations - I have some spare skin if anyone needs any, and my nipples are about an inch lower than they should be. On the other hand, my willy appears to have got considerably larger.

My wife has taken to calling me 'Skeletor'

I need cushions if I'm going to sit on a wooden chair or bench because my arse bones hurt otherwise.

I can do pull-ups/chin-ups again!

So, where to from here? Well, I have another 4 weeks worth of 7.2mg pens in the fridge, and after that I'll aim to titrate down to 2.4mg (and good riddance to those horrible bastard 7.2mg pens!) and see how well I can maintain from there.

So, good luck everyone. You can get there in the end!

A fairly well-worn trope is that of the arrogant and snooty British Officer looking down on, and being generally disparaging about, colonial or Commonwealth contingents (often being lead by Mel Gibson).

The only thing is, I can't actually remember seeing any primary source examples of this type of thing, other than a concern about Australian discipline in the First World War - which was not unfounded. Indeed, it seems British Officers were often quite complimentary about their colonial cousins (Montgomery, for example, brimmed over with praise at the raw quality of the Canadians, and Haig seemed to have high opinions of the Dominion troops)

Is this something that actually happened, and has just escaped my reading, or is this another Mel Gibsonism?
