Not sure if this is the best place for this question, but am going to be replacing my parents aging Optus router with a TPLink Deco. Eventually will move them from Optus, but need to get them off the Optus email address first...

When swapping over the router, do I need to wait 30min or so with no router connected before connecting the new one? ISPs I've been with have had a kick connection option, but I haven't seen one on the Optus app, etc. So, am not sure if it's the router disconnected for a period or the HFC modem powered down for a period.

Just wanting to clarify the process to minimise any potential disruptions/issues.
