Hey guys! Hoping to hear from some Bend locals on this one…

I’m visiting at the end of August and was wondering whether you’d recommend I stay in Bend proper or somewhere else. I will be seeing a show at Hayden Homes one of the days, but the other 4.5 days I’ll be looking to hike, MTB and maybe do some river rafting (likely guided in the river). I feel quite comfortable renting a bike and getting around with that, but am not against renting a car.

If you stayed in the city, what would you recommend? If you stayed outside the city, what accommodations would be good? TIA!
