Looking for guidance on compensation for probably one of the worst flight experiences ever

I assume these sort of questions are asked a lot on this Reddit, and apologies for being a bit ignorant on the subject, I’m really bad with these sort of issues so would really appreciate some guidance from people who’ve had similar experiences.

The long story short is that on a flight from Braşov to Luton, our journey was delayed repeatedly for over 6 hours until it was eventually cancelled/rescheduled. After hours of waiting in a cabin that was so hot that people were taking tops off, screaming, crying, it seemed like we were finally going to take off when we were just told that ‘this flight is not departing right now’ and dumped back at the airport to go back through border control. There was no clear instruction on whether the flight was cancelled for the day until I received an email hours later to reschedule for the next day.

I eventually found someone who tried to help with accommodation and transport, but again after hours of waiting at the airport I was eventually told that I was unlikely to receive somewhere to stay and I’d be better off booking my own hotel and transport before it hits midnight and there’s nothing left (I was told this at 11:30pm, but luckily managed to find somewhere just in time). I was told I could apply for compensation if I kept the receipts.

In terms of receiving compensation, does anyone have any guidance or experience with Wizz Air? The hotel and uber transport is one expense, but I’m also wondering for more compensation because my parents travelled 6 hours to Luton airport to pick me up and had to book their own hotel for the night after waiting for an entire day for confirmation that the flight was cancelled.

The story above is very vague and doesn’t explain everything, so for any more details please read the story below:

The flight was scheduled for takeoff at 3pm. We boarded the plane fine and were ready to go until someone had a medical emergency and had to leave. After an hour of waiting we were prepared to go again until the plane had a mechanical error. We were offloaded off the plane and waited in the gate whilst an engineer resolved the issue. We were told to board the plane again at 5:55pm.

Once we boarded the plane again it was noticeably hotter and uncomfortable. The AC was not on and it was a red weather warning for a heatwave on the day. It only got hotter and hotter as we sat in there. Eventually people became restless and were stood up and arguing either the cabin crew, as it became hot enough that people were crying and screaming, taking tops off, and people were worried about medical conditions. We were told that they would not turn the AC on until everyone was sat down. As people removed themselves from the flight because of the heat this obviously delayed the AC further, and only worsened the issue as more people became restless and stood up out of anger or discomfort.

At roughly 8pm they finally turned the AC on and we prepared to takeoff. We sat in the runway for about an hour. During this hour some heavy rain hit the airport but we were told it was not a problem. At around 9pm we were simply told that ‘the flight would not be departing right now’, and were promptly returned to the airport and forced to go back through border control. I asked the cabin crew what was happening and whether the flight was cancelled and they themselves didn’t know the answer.

Once back in the airport lobby there was no guidance offered. I finally received an email around 11pm that the flight was rescheduled. In this time I was able to finally locate someone who attempted to help me with accommodation, but unfortunately they weren’t able to help.

I spoke to someone who had a proper conversation with cabin crew and they told me why the plane was cancelled. According to the crew the plane attempted to takeoff 3 times, however each time the pilot asked cabin crew if everyone was seated, there was someone, usually a child, who was unseated. On the third attempt the pilot decided to cancel the flight. The cabin crew said they thought that this decision was the wrong call.

I feel incredibly bad for the cabin crew. Not only did they have to endure the heat and constant delays and waiting like the rest of us, but they also had to endure constant shouting and harassment over decisions that they weren’t making.

This is obviously a complicated situation. I understand the side of the pilots but I also can’t help but think this could’ve been easily avoided if they had turned the AC on from the start, then people wouldn’t have become so restless. It did not help that they were constantly telling us that we were ready to take off soon, only to be delayed again and again for hours on end.

Thanks for taking your time to read this. If you can offer any advice on what I could be entitled to I would really appreciate it.

Here are the specific details again if this helps:
Original takeoff time - 3pm
Returned to gate between 4pm and 5:55 pm
Sat in extreme heat between 6pm and 8pm
Flight cancelled at 9pm

The distance of the flight is over 1500 km, but below 2000km I believe.

I think a lot of you guys need to realise how the weekly schedule is skewing your perception of the manga

I’m a really new fan of the series. I watched the anime last week and then binge read the entire manga in a couple days.

I kept seeing people complaining about the current state of the manga, and people talking about the manga as if there’s no hope.

With that in mind I was preparing myself for an immense drop off in story telling whilst I was reading, but I was honestly pleasantly surprised and never felt that the story got any worse.

I understand the frustration with the amnesia arc, but it honestly doesn’t really bother me. It’s led to an interesting change of dynamic that has me excited to see how everything will be resolved.

When reading it, it didn’t feel dragged out or have poor pacing to me. Despite being a few dozen chapters, I found that this manga is so fast paced anyway that it felt incredibly short to me.

I really think that you guys are suffering from the fact that you’ve been bound to the weekly release schedule, and this is making so many people’s frustrations a bit too exaggerated. I understand that you’ve been stuck in this arc for 10 months, but, like most manga, this story isn’t really one meant to be experienced one chapter at a time, once a week. I understand that could sound a little silly considering that’s how most manga release, but I really think any story will suffer immensely when you can only consume it in such short bursts between huge waits.

TLDR: As someone who has recently read the whole manga in one go, I think that the story hasn’t dropped off as people have said it has. I think that people have become too frustrated expecting the amnesia arc to end as quickly as possible, however that’s not really possible when manga releases so slowly and the chapters are often fairly short.

I’m personally going to leave the manga for a while so that once I come back to it I’m able to read several chapters at once, and the story will feel more cohesive. I think a lot of you would probably benefit from the same if you think the story has dropped off so much.
