I was just diagnosed with De Quervain syndrome. What should I expect?

I’ve been experiencing pain in the part of my wrist that’s connected to my thumb for about two months and finally got diagnosed with De Quervain syndrome. I just woke up one morning with pain there and it never went away.

I was instructed to wear a splint for the next two weeks and if the pain persists, I’m to see an orthopedist. The way this was presented to me was that the splint should help get me back to normal. However, after perusing this subreddit, I suspect there’s a chance that this will be my new reality for the rest of my life.

The point of this post is to gauge if others were able to recover completely and return to normal or if this condition was for life. I’m also open to your advice on relieving this pain. Thank you!

Here comes another themed manicure from the spring bingo board over at r/WeGotPolishAtHome.

Here is the list of supplies I used in the order they were applied.

  1. Base coat: Essie Stay Strong

  2. DIY silver magnetic topper:
    - Glitter Unique Glitter Suspension Base
    - Glitter Unique Silver Magnetic Pigment

Magnetization technique: finger held upside down over a spinning 30lb horseshoe magnet for glass bead effect

  1. Top coat: Mix of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri & Essie Gel Setter (I did this because my Gel Setter was getting low!)

I worked on two fingers at a time. Chrome with lacquer can be quite finicky. You don’t want the polish to dry too much, but it also needs to be somewhat dry to properly rub in the chrome and get that smooth effect without smudging the polish underneath. I wasn’t paying the most attention to time, but I’d estimate 2-3 minutes to be the sweet spot for this top coat.

  1. Holo Taco Peeley Base

This preserves the smooth chrome look. Regular polish will disintegrate that effect.

  1. Seche Vite for non-gem fingers.

  2. For the fingers with rhinestones & pearls, the beads themselves came complimentary with an order I made on Vettsy. Then, I top coated with Seche Vite twice, making sure to cover the pearls but avoiding the rhinestones with the top coat.

I started this bingo board with a lot of excitement and gusto. That has since been dwindling, and I think this manicure rekindled that flame! Blowing bubbles was a theme I was interested in but wasn’t sure how to approach. I’m semi-satisfied with how it turned out.

This is a silver magnetic manicure with different types of chrome rubbed on top all done with regular lacquer! When rubbing in the linear holo chrome, I used too much, and it covered up the magnetic polish underneath. I also wish I used a different chrome for the pointer finger.

I used nail polish to glue and seal in the small pearls and rhinestone. For the big one, I used nail glue. We shall see if they all fall off!

I will attach my inspiration photo, bingo cards, and supplies used in the comments below.
