Elan Wingman 83 Ti as a progression ski?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on choosing my next pair of skis.

I’m currently riding Head Shape e-V5s in 177 cm. They were perfectly fine as beginner skis, but I’ve started to struggle with them on hard-packed and icy snow. I’m 190 cm tall and weigh around 89 kg, and my impression is that the skis flex too much under my weight, which makes it difficult to maintain a solid edge grip on ice.

My initial choice was the Blizzard Anomaly 88, but based partly on advice from this subreddit, it seems like it may be a little too demanding for my current ability level.

I’m therefore looking for something between the e-V5 and the Anomaly 88, and the Elan Wingman 83 Ti seems like a good option.

Would the Wingman 83 Ti (182cm) be a suitable ski for progressing, particularly for someone of my height and weight? I mainly ski groomed pistes, including hard-packed and icy conditions. Looking for a ski that can handle slushi afternoon snow maybe sometimes some light offpiste trials. Mainly skiing in the Austrian Alps (reds and up to medium demanding blacks).

Blizzard Anomaly 84R rental version good or bad deal/decision?

Quick question: is this a good deal for the Blizzard Anomaly “R” rental version with TPC Demo bindings? They’re available for around $600 USD (€515).

I’m an intermediate skier (190 cm / 90 kg) looking for a more advanced all-mountain ski to improve my technique. Right now I ski Austrian reds confidently and medium blacks with a bit less confidence — but still having fun :)

At the moment I’m using the HEAD V5, and especially on icy snow I can really feel their limits, mainly due to the lack of stiffness.

Would the rental version be a bad choice compared to the regular one, or is it worth it at this price?
