Built a simple Rivian-Inspired Mach-E App with Claude
I think Ford's app is solid but inconsistent and a bit boring compared to the other brands' apps. Namely, the UI of apps for Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, and Polestar. So, I decided to give building my own a go. So far, it's running pretty well.
I'm not done with the frontend yet, but I have been working hard alongside Claude to make sure it's functional without getting my FordPass account banned (well, at least not for too many calls, weird email characters, or bot-like behavior). Today was a big day because I finally got it to perform accurate location-based and car-related actions like climate control, door unlocking, and door locking. The rest of the features i am still working on but its a start.
The next step is improving the UI to something more original, and I'd love some feedback. I'll note that it is not currently built to be shared, but if this turns out to be something I'm not an idiot for spending time and resources on, I don't mind looking into that path (assuming Ford won't come for me).
AI Disclaimer: I used Claude Code to help me understand where my code and integrations were failing, and to create the frontend design. Everything else was me stressing in and out of Xcode and GitHub (credit where credit is due: https://github.com/marq24/ha-fordpass and all of y'all who post your HomeAssistant woes on Reddit or in Mach-E forums).
