Advanced pepper care

If you look closely at the second picture, with the paprika in front and the shishitou in back, you will notice a small size difference... :-P

These were planted about 2 months apart. The system I was using for watering the seedlings worked great for my tomatoes & shishitou, but paprika prefer much drier and I think based on the yellowish leaves that I drowned the roots :-(

I took the water out of the tray & poked holes in the soil to help it dry out; I don't think the plants are too far gone & that Mother Nature should fix things.

I'm wondering, however, if I should try to do any trimming of the roots, or take any other measures?

TIA

4 days - during a typhoon. A record?

I dropped these cucumber seeds in the dirt 4 days ago, and as you know, it hasn't been bright & sunny this week.

Hopefully this is a good omen!

Too late to start growing basil from seed?

I have an excellent SE corner location for them, that gets pretty direct sunlight from around 4am to early afternoon. I'm trying to recall how quickly they grow & is it worth starting some now.

If not, any suggestions for this late a start?

EDIT: My local Royal settled the question by not having any basil seeds for some reason, just a few sickly looking seedlings

Decided to drop a couple cucumber seeds in some dirt & see if I can avoid powder mildew for the third year running
