Not an ounce of heat
Picked my first scorpion habenezzy.... Chopped it up and put it in my yakisoba... Got ready to have my balls torn off.
The title. Not even a drop of warmth. No flavour at all. Did not taste it in there.
Hope the others are not the same. 3 other plants. So fingers crossed for some scorch in my future.
Harvest after a week away
Went on a week trip and came home to my tomato fruits already touching the ground. The heavy rains and wind probably knocked the branches down. Harvested x3 of what’s in the photo ( threw most away) plus paprikas and white eggplants too. If not eating raw, will the tomatoes be safe?
Plants exchange sub, anyone?
Or there is an existing one already?
I’m specifically looking for moringa seedlings or even just seeds from already successful growers. I’ve looked on amazon but reviews are bad
レッツラ luffa!
inspired by u/my_socks_are_on_fire post I ordered some luffa/hechima seedlings to hopefully make some sponges and crafts.

location: western Tokyo
it's late in the season but they all seem quite genki and sending out creepers.
will 6 seedlings generate an overwhelming amount of work? lol (they were a 6-piece discount package but i can give some away)
any advice for a first-time luffa grower much appreciated!

Joined my local farming club and enjoying the harvests!
2 years ago, an elderly Japanese man with a hobby farm was getting too old to do everything by himself. I was happy to help out and it grew into a Farming Club where a bunch of residents are now gardening as well! Just ¥4000/farming season (April-Nov) and I’ve learnt so much and made some nice friends! It’s my 2nd year farming organic vegetables 💕 Lots of great harvests, and I have a lot of appreciation for the amount of time it takes to grow vegetables.
Friend needs help with lavender
A friend of mine recently had a gardener put lavender into their yard. All but 1 of the plants seem to be thriving, and they're wondering if anyone might have an idea as to why this one plant is drying out. The gardener told them to water it since they're new plants and their wondering if they have over-watered this one plant or something else might be going on.
Romanesco 🥦
It was yummy and beautiful too. I felt sad to cut it
Seed exchange (I have Jalapeño)?
Anyone interested in trading some seeds? Im specifically looking for seeds that are difficult to find here (EX: poblano, American pumpkin/watermelon, bluebonnets, etc...). If I can't find anyone to trade with I'm also cool with just giving some away (might be really difficult to find the type of seeds Id like anyway).
I've had this jalapeño plant for about 2.5 years. This year it's been pushing out quite a few peppers (over 20). Decided to save some seeds and see what happens. The little guys in the cups are the result (so the seeds work).
I've probably got 50-60 left over seeds (the seeds were taken from peppers that turned red, and were then dried out for a week).
If you're interested please DM me or leave a comment below.
Also, as far as I know sending seeds domestically (within Japan) is totally fine (but if anyone knows otherwise people do).
I’m being overtaken by caterpillars
They have never hit my garden before. But this year they’re attacking my eucalyptus, Melaleuca and wire plant.
Currently, I’m picking them all off by hand. I inspect the plants every morning and try to pick them off. Is there a better option without drowning them in chemicals ?
I don’t know what I did wrong this summer
I would appreciate any advice. I am feeling so dejected and like all of my research has been for nothing. This was my first time ever growing plants from seedlings and it all was going so well until July! I grew every single one from seed starting in April. I feel like a bad mother now as the only thing that is doing okay are my green onions for some reason🥺
1st pic from top to bottom:
Cosmos - first bloom May 20 and continued until maybe mid June
Zinnias - first bloom June 23, but got hit hard with powdery mildew. I had maybe 5-6 blooms since then with one more starting this week.
I sprayed twice over the last three months with a spray to help stop it.
Statice - only started blooming a few weeks ago, have had a lot of problems with overwatering and getting yellow leaves. It took me a long time to figure out how much to water.
Asters & Odamaki in the long planter (also 2nd picture close up) - are completely fried now. I had huge problems with ダチソウグンバイ chrysanthemum lace bugs in the pot and then later spider mites on the asters. I used a spray from DCM that said it works on both twice over 2 months.
Location: Southern Aichi in Mikawa area
Fertilizer: About one month ago I used some fertilizer pellets from Daiso in each pot but used a little less than the recommended 24g as last year I over fertilized.
Water: I’m watering every 3-4 days now as the soil doesn’t completely dry until then. I’m using tap water as I don’t have filtered.
Soil: The soil is for flowers/vegetables from DCM and I mixed some sphagnum moss in about 2 months ago to try to keep the soil moist longer but I don’t think it helped.
3rd picture shows the bottom of one of the pots. They all have this white buildup(?) on the bottoms and I’m not sure what it is.
Edit: forgot to add location
Last harvest of blueberries?
I can only do container gardening so harvests are pretty limited, but I’m happy with this year’s blueberries. I have one small bush that yielded large, very sweet berries in early June, and a larger plant that yields these smaller berry, but produces a lot more fruit. This is the 4th (and probably last) harvest from that bush.
I also got a medium-sized eggplant, a few sprigs of herbs, and a few Habanada peppers this morning; the herbs and peppers went into a salad.
I previously had a harvest of a couple of medium-sized tomatoes and a beautiful cucumber. I currently have a few more baby cucumbers on the vine, a few more peppers, and a lot of eggplant flowers. Still hoping for more tomatoes too…
First post- here’s my recent harvest!
We have a frankly absurd number of tomato plants, as well as green pepper and biquinhos!

First year corn
So here's the stubby corn i got because of poor timing of male and female flowers. 3 plants had very few kernels. I may also have let it go too long, but we will see. I think i may not do corn next year -- the environment might be too marginal for it. Plus there are bushels of it available everywhere around here, though i was surprised how short the season was. Hoping there are some late varieties coming up!
Finally I got my watermelon.
But the taste wasn’t that much sweet 🙂
Goya producing well
Planted one goya this year and it’s done really well. I have had 10 of these size and have 5 more on the vine. Maybe next year another plant or two. Threw in some other pics from what I have been able to pull from the garden.
[Help] what is this infesting my vegetables?
Coming out to half decimated vegetable container was... an experience. What are these guys? I see static black specks all over the leaves (at least I don't see any movement).
I found some white very small bugs (1-2mm ish in size?) under the leaves. Are these mealybugs? What can I do to combat them? They ravaged my freshly planted greens.
How could I have prevented this tragedy?
My first ever watermelon cracked in the field. I don't really water my established plants, and I don't remember if we had any rain overnight since Weds when I last checked on it, so I don't think it had a sudden swell of water?
I'm so sad. There was only 1 ant on it so I'm still going to try and eat it.
Ah well, my carrots are absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't be happier with them 🤎🤎🤎
