High Coast Tasting Set Review (Älv, Berg, Hav, Timmer, Doubbles Cognac, Inazuma)
First Mercari sale, and of course, weird things are happening - do nothing or do something?
I recently began selling some old magazines I have lying around on Mercari. Nothing crazy, mostly ¥600 each (so I'm only making like ¥300 a transaction). The first one sold; it's anonymous shipping, so I put it in a padded envelope, stuck the QR code sticker on, and put it in the mail. The person who bought it seemed fine: had about 20 positive reviews, had recently bought other things, and was selling too (20 or so items, but I noticed none of them had "real life" photos, just stock images). There were two things I found a little strange but didn't think much of, but I'll add for context. First, the seller said they shipped from Tokyo, but the package I sent was sent to Okayama. Second, it said the recipient wasn't available during a delivery attempt, although it should have fit directly in the mail slot. In any case, eventually, they rated me (not auto-rated), completed the transaction, and I got my ¥300. I already spent it. So congrats to me, first transaction done.
Just now, though, I opened up my mailbox and the magazine was returned to me by JP Post. Apparently, it was never picked up after the attempted delivery, held at the post office, and then sent back to me. When I go to the buyer's profile, they've been suspended. Not sure what to do at this point, if anything. Just keep it and move on? Relisting it feels a bit awkward. Should I report what happened anyway?
Surely I'm not tied up in some sort of scam over ¥600. Googling suggests maybe they got hacked (possibly someone testing a hacked card before a bigger purchase or building good reviews)?
tldr: buyer clicked received, I got my money, but JP sent back the item because no one picked it up, go to reach out to buyer but their account is suspended
Made a small batch of green hot sauce with green peppers.
Has anybody tried this? At the price, absoletly hate how curious I am about it.
This is from Matsui Whiskey's "Daisen" Line, specifically from their double cask series containing *something* finished in Sakura and Mizunara casks. For those who don't know, Matsui Shuzo infamously earned itself a negative reputation among the Japanese Whiskey community. Why? Imagine that there's a brand new distillery that just started production, and all of a sudden, they start selling aged whiskies all dressed up in fancy, Japanese-styled bottles. For casual fans, this was deceptive. Most of them are thinking they are drinking a "Japanese" whiskey, when in reality it's just imported stuff bottled in Japan. Matsui Shuzo has since fallen in line with JSLMA standards for Japanese whiskey, but they have not been able to shake off their reputation. Plus, it seems they still have their tentacles in some questionable stuff.
In any case, I noticed there's this bottle: Sakura and Mizunara cask finished for ¥2000 ($13). The limited research seems to suggest it's a blend of young distillates that spent no more than 3 months in these casks. On one hand, I tend to stay far away from Matsui. On the other hand, considering how much of a premium Sakura and Mizunara finishes usually add, I am so, so curious about how this tastes. Does it actually capture those flavors? Do the two cask finishes actually even work well together? Why is it so cheap for such premium finishes? I feel like at ¥2000, it won't break the bank, so it could be a fun experiment. I could also see this being a drain pour. Anybody tried this one or any of the other Daisen whiskies? Thoughts?
Compass Box Orchard House canned highball. Where else, of course, but in Japan.

Anyone else tried Suntory’s new All Free “Ale Taste” yet?
I try to avoid alcohol on weekdays and All Free is my go-to NA beer. Recently they released an “Ale Taste” version. I know, very enticing name. Being a fan of the regular, I picked up a can tonight with decent hopes, but can’t say I’m a huge fan. Just my two yen, there’s definitely some bitterness there, but I thought the citrus was too overpowering, the balance wasn’t quite right. But honestly, the regular All Free took me quite awhile to grow on me, so I’m wondering if the Ale Taste just needs a few more before I come to a proper judgement. Might buy a six pack and throw it in the mix. Anyone else tried it? Impressions?
