New Nintendo 3DS XL Hyrule system for the collection, but…

I already got one and the deal was too good to pass up. But once it arrived, seems it has some dust under the screen. They are not very visible on the screen. Another surprise is the system is dual IPS so screens are bright. Also the two black corners on the bottom screen, can that eventually spread to the rest of the system? Thinking of keeping it since it’s preloaded with games and it’s in good condition.

Smelly Plasctic Figures. What to do?

Took these two guys out of the plastic, since they where new because it had this smell that reminded me when you store something for years and take it out, that smell. Bought them and I was like wow! It smells like plastic too. The arms where kind of sticky. I cleaned them a bit hoping if that was the smell it would go away. I took them out I put them in the game room and in the morning when I walked in, I could smell that smell in the room. Is there a way to clean them, without damaging them?

After removing 200 Games from my 3DS collection, this is what I kept.

After my last post a few weeks back, I decided to stop trying to collect the complete NA set, and curated my collection to what I thought were games I would like to play and games that I have nostalgia for. Took out 200 games and kept the rest.

Lots of amazing games still left in the collection and I am at peace with this part of the journey. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback and suggestions.

New Plush Additions To The Collection

Got this for a steal. Bought the smaller Yoshi for 15 bucks then noticed the guy had the larger one for 35 dollars. Seems he has more of the larger ones. Such a cool looking Yoshi. I saw someone else recently got the largest one. Love the fluffy look to them.

Organizing Some of The Awesome Banpresto and Nintendo Plush

Moved a bunch of games out of this shelf to organize some of the plush, but even so, It's hard to get them to display well. They are of various sizes and shapes, but it still looks very nice. I need a whole shelf to display all, but at least I got a few in one big section.

Trimming Down The Collection

So I started collecting for the 3DS about 4 years ago, a few months before Nintendo would announce that they would close the Eshop and people started buying up 3DS games. I had a small amount of games, probably around 50 by the time they made the announcement to give people enough time to buy games and use credit. At that time, I thought, wouldn't it be nice to build a 3ds collection and try to collect all the North American games. It would be expensive, but I could make it a fun journey and I could probably find a way to pay for it for free.

At that time, I was living in China and my friend back home in American was buying and flipping games to fund his own collection, the PS Vita. So I decided I would do the same. I started researching games and Ebay sold listings and watching various people on Youtube who did the same for collecting or reselling. I ended up making lists and being in this part of the world, there was an app that you could buy things from all parts of China. This was right before covid when I started, so at that time prices had not spiked yet. I would buy random games, accessories, plush, figures and collect them until I could get them home to list. I would then take the profits I made and use only the profits to buy games I needed. Most of my collection came from the app I used to buy games and flip them. The rest I would buy from Ebay, Mercari, or local Marketplace when I would go to the states.

You see, a few years back (2015), I had a good collection in the US, but my parents decided they wanted to use my room and put my things in storage. Unfortunately, that place had a huge fire due to arson from a disgruntled customer who lost his unit and it was sold. My games, figures, and systems were gone. My parents did not tell me until I went home after almost two years of not being able to travel because of the ban that China had on people leaving and coming back. When they told me I was so upset because I had games I cherished and things I had collected from importing N64 games, to PS1 games from local stores that are no longer open. My original Final fantasy games for the SNES, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, and so many more, gone.

So as my 3DS collection grew, I was like why not collect those games again. They might not be the original ones I owned, but I could have them and replay them. Yes, I could always emulate them but I wanted the real things to hold and relive some of those memories. I can still remember buying Final Fantasy 3 from a local store at the mall for about 96 dollars and that drove my parents mad cause I spent so much of my allowance money without asking. They tried to return it but I phoned ahead and told the owner to stand their ground and my parents would eventually cave in. They did and they returned with my game and scolded me, but I got to keep it. So that is why I wanted to collect games from my childhood from all the systems I owned. But my god, the prices for games from the NES through Sega Saturn to PS1 had skyrocketed. So I decided to keep buying things and pay for the collection.

Fast forward to now, collection has grown and I have so many of my favorite games from all consoles and they all have a story and memory attached to them. But here is where I also have a dilemma. I have about 356 games from the 3DS North American Collection and over 10 consoles. I do love the 3ds and I did own a few variations of the consoles when they came out, but I don't have as many memories with over 70% of the games. I started 4 years ago collecting out of fun and thinking it would be cool to have these games and try to play some of the ones I missed. Second, I have a son and hes about three and another reason I collect now is because I want him to experience the same thrill I had looking at games and playing various types of games from various consoles. I grew up in the 80s when you would go to Toys R Us or Kaybees or some other game store to look at the games art work and descriptions on the back. You had no internet, just magazines (Nintendo Power, EGM, Gamefan, GamePro, and so on) and hype generated by word of mouth. I want him to experience something similar and I have set up the gaming office/play area for him to enjoy looking at these things. He does not play any games yet and the most he gets to do is play with the plushies and look at all the games and asks about the characters and if they are crying or angry when he looks at cover art.

Going back to the problem, I am thinking of downsizing the 3ds collection by probably 300 games and not finish collecting the complete set. I been fighting with myself for almost a month about selling them and turning the profits into more meaningful games for the NES, SNES, PS1 and so on. How can I convince myself to let the collection go? I guess the problem is that it is because of the 3DS collection that I ended up with everything I own and that adventure of collecting and finding great deals and rebuilding what I lost all came from trying to finish the 3DS collection. Will I regret it in the future? Or is it just another part of the story. Anyways wondering what would you do?

TL;DR: I started collecing the complete North American 3DS collection. It led me to end up collecting for other consoles I used to own and my collection has grown and I don't have as much memories for the 3ds and I am just collecting now for completing a list. Should I sell or keep? Funds will go to buy more games from my childhood I lost in a fire.

Working On Collecting Some SNES Classics

Back when I got my first SNES, I did not play many RPG's until I found Final Fantasy II at a pawnshop. When I bought it, it was game cart only. I did not know what it was about and back in then, the internet was not like we know it now. I think it was 1993or 1994 when I picked this one up. I played it and I was like what is this and I did not like it. I was used to more action and platforming games. I threw it in the closet and forgot about it for a few months. Then during the summer holiday, I decided to give it another chance. I sat there and started enjoying the game, the music, the characters, and I was sucked into the world of Final Fantasy. I could not get enough. Then came Final Fantasy 3, Chrono Trigger, Paladin's Quest, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, Secret of Mana, Secret of Mana, Act Raiser, Robotrek, and Illusion of Gaia. They had me hooked. I started following Square and Final Fantasy, becoming a huge fan of Nobuo's music and Yoshitaka Amono's work.

Eventually out grew the snes and its library but I have so much nostalgia for the games and system. One summer, I decided I woudl go back home and grab my games, but I could not find them. My parents ended up moving my stuff into a storage unit and a few years back it went up in flames because somebody had committed some sort of arson because they were upset with the owner selling their things. My parents never mentioned it, but I was so upset at them at the time. So many memories gone. My games, notes, guides, and figures.

Fast forward to now, I been slowly collecting games for about almost three years now. I do what many people do now a days, I hunt for games and flip them to pay for games I want to collect. I been lucky to find some great things to flip and pay for my old games. The hobby is definitely expensive, but the memories of sitting there and watching Cecil go from a Dark Knight into a Paladin, are worth revisiting. The music on the moon and the longest ending to a game I had seen at the time, are engraved in my memories.

Any other RPG's you guys recommend to go back and play. I know Breath of Fire is on some people's list. Any other games?

Not a fan of the SNES Megaman games but picked up this graded copy for cheap and hoping to turn that into Earthbound CIB.

TL;DR: Memories are priceless, Square made amazing SNES RPRG's;Rebuilding a lost collection

Four Years of Collecting for the 3DS and I have built up a nice collection.

When the Nintendo DS first came out, I really loved that bulky system and picked up games a long the way that had anything to do with my favorite franchises like Mario and Zelda. As the system kept evolving, I only played a few games and missed out on so many gems. So four years ago I decided I would collect for the 3DS games that I missed out on and then a few months later Nintendo announced they would close the 3DS shop and that is when I decided I would try to collect all NA physical games. It was not going to be cheap, so I decided I would buy games and then flip them to pay for the collection. Four years later and my collection is full of great games, systems and other random things. Wanted to share the joy that is the 3DS, and since I love the Zelda Franchise, I been collecting those consoles. The Gold Hyrulean Shield one and the Majora's Mask consoles are both dual IPS along with the Fire Emblem Edition. I didn't know what that meant at the time I got them but found out by watching other people talking about their love for the 3DS.

I don't know if I will finish the complete NA collection, but I am about 50+ games away, and unfortunately I been side tracked by collecting old NES, SNES, and Playstation games I loved when I was growing up, and sold for various reasons. Even so, love all the memories I have with some of these games and can't wait to make new ones with some of the new games.

Pikachu X Mario Plush (Real?)

I see these Mario X Pikachu plush on Ebay, and the difference between them seems to be the mustache. The smaller plush, the keychain seems to have a smaller mustache. These here in the pictures the mustache is flat. They have the tag and it says Pokemon center. They look authentic to me. Anybody know for sure?
