you guys are getting Recruiters!??

Hi everybody! I’m 3 years into my data analyst career and as of January 2026 I’ve been promoted to senior data analyst. I think a pretty good at my job and I actually got an award last year for my work despite this I only make ~ 80K, even though I live in a mid to high cost of living area. Most of my friends and acquaintances that work in the same or similar field as me make six figures at least
… I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong. I went to pretty good public school in my state and I feel like I know the same things that everyone else does SQL Python, platforms like databricks, data visualization tools, and etc. typical data analytics tools.

I occasionally apply for other data analytics job openings, but I never get past the initial application phase before a rejection. Acquaintances in the same field as me always talk about how they get recruiters calling them and offers for different jobs, but I’ve never experienced this. I wonder what I’m doing wrong? My undergrad degree was not in computer science or engineering, but I’ve produced enough work on my projects list to show that I’m capable of handling complex stuff. Is it really just because my undergrad degree doesn’t say computer science? I still have a STEM degree (BS).

I guess my real question is: what makes recruiters reach out to people and give them offers? The people telling me they have offers have just as many years of experience as I do.

How many offers are you guys getting a year and how many years of experience do you have? And as someone with only three years of experience, should I be expecting to get offers?

how do we get real doctors to explain health issues and head the ship of public health education instead of tiktok “self help guru influencers”

I help run a nonprofit that is building an accessible online health publication. We have been intentionally selective about involving practicing physicians and residents, and more recently medical students because we want the content to be informed/reviewed by people who understand medicine and have gone through the proper education and training. The small team I’m on is working on outreach at different institutions but recruiting them has been incredibly difficult… because they are exhausted!!! Residents are burned out trying to learn on the job and study at the same time, physicians are overloaded with a billion patients a day, and medical students are already fighting to keep their heads above water with all the stuff they need to retain until the next exam.

So the people who understand the nuance often have no time to communicate it… and the people with the most confidence and best ring lights get to define “health” for millions while dancing to funny silly music. (I’m trying so hard not to be a hater but its literally so dystopian?)
To be clear this is not aimed at the REAL physicians and medical professionals using social media to educate responsibly.** Many of them are doing extraordinary work! Thank the stars for them! Few and far between… we have lost a few to dermtok but its ok…

I’m so afraid of the growing wave of “med-fluencers” who borrow medical language to sell supplements and create a larger issue of misinformation and propaganda against licensed health professionals. This weird imbalance is exactly what we are trying to push back against. We want to make contributing realistic through occasional writing, editing, medical review, or mentorship rather than another exhausting commitment. I feel like it’s at least enticing to potential contributors since they can practice science communication and technical writing, earn bylines and recognition, strengthen their portfolios, and help shape a publication at its earliest stage. at a loss rn and the last team meeting was basically on that so I thought I’d inquire through the big ole force that is reddit.
