Tim and Sarah’s conversation about the relationship between gay men and lesbians

Immediately reminded me of this great Modern Family clip

Lindsay Clancy case

Looking for a podcast or YouTuber covering the Lindsay Clancy case. I listen to Pretty Lies and Alibis which I LOVE but she sticks to the facts. I enjoy her recaps but sometimes I do want to listen to commentary on what the host thinks about it. That being said, it can be hard to find one who is intelligent, balanced and nuanced in their opinions and commentary. But that’s what I’m looking for if such a thing exists anymore.

“Sharing economy”?

Listening to “the receipts”. JVL & Katherine are discussing Graham Platner’s spiel on billionaires not wanting you to own anything. Katherine mentions how she heard about this ~10yrs ago. I think ok me too. But apparently our memories are completely different. According to her and JVL, the “sharing” economy was considered a great thing 10 years ago. Sure, maybe in the sense of Uber, but most of us don’t really see that as car “sharing”.

What I remember is when those words “you won’t own anything, and you will be happy” were spoken at the World Economic Forum and people on the right and left went apeshit. No one has ever liked this. Yes, we do want to own our music. We do want to control all of the features in our cars. This charging for things monthly has become more common in the supply side of our economy, but most people don’t actually like it.

Even for things like music and movies, we’re not getting much of a cost benefit. You’re paying quite a bit to buy something that the platform may decide it doesn’t want to host anymore. That’s annoying. I have become pretty opposed to anything that is a monthly charge. I’d rather budget for something once than pay every month for access for the rest of my life. But all of these companies want to find a way to draft from your bank account consistently. It’s exhausting.

Tomato randomly died?

Sorry the first pic is not great. This tomato was doing fine and yesterday looked like this- extremely droopy leaves up top, the end of the branches look almost stripped a little bit. Anyone know what this might be?

I know many people will see this as good news. I’d like to argue the opposite.

They don’t want this to be a national fight.

It’s not tenable. Women in New York, California, and more progressive states will not stand for this. The midterms would be a bloodbath. Alito knows this. They all know this.

Women (and men) in southern states are used to backwards government that doesn’t care about them. And people are suffering under this policy. They fall into mostly two groups- (1) people with little resources and no political power and (2) people who can afford to travel out of state if necessary.

This needs to be a national fight, or some 35-40% of women and girls will continue to be left behind.
