Evernote’s AI Assistant gets a “memory” (global preferences)

I have been playing with Evernote’s new AI Memory.

This is not the usual “it remembers what you said earlier in the conversation” thing. It is more like global instructions the assistant checks every time you prompt it.

So instead of repeatedly typing the same preferences, you can teach it once. Examples:

  • Always use British English
  • No em dashes
  • Keep replies concise
  • Cite sources when stating facts
  • Use metric units

Find it in Settings → AI features → AI memory

You can see what you have taught it in the article + screens.

Deep Dive: Mermaid charts come to Evernote

Mermaid has arrived in Evernote.

Not the sea sirens - the chart text syntax that lets you write simple code and instantly get diagrams right inside your notes.

In this deep dive I walk through:

  • How to insert a Mermaid block (Insert menu or / command)
  • The different views (Code / Split / Preview)
  • Exporting your chart as a PNG
  • Using the Evernote AI Assistant to generate Mermaid code from a plain-English prompt

If you’ve ever been stuck screenshotting flowcharts from PowerPoint, this is worth a look.
