hatham-Kent councillor Rhonda Jubenville is urging residents to submit their concerns about a proposed waste facility and landfill in Dresden directly to the province.
York1 Environmental Waste Solutions has applied to the province to operate a waste transfer and processing facility at an eight-hectare landfill on Irish School Road.
The proposed transfer facility could receive up to 3,000 tonnes of material a day, while the landfill could take up to 1,000 tonnes daily.
Chatham-Kent council remains unanimously opposed to the proposal.
Residents have 15 days from receiving their notice to submit comments to the province.
Dresden landfill and recycling facility could be downsized
York1 Environmental Solutions has applied to scale back and environmentally improve its proposed landfill and waste transfer facility in Dresden.
One application to the Ministry of Environment states the modernized waste transfer and processing facility at at 29831 Irish School Road in Dresden would receive a daily maximum of up to 4,000 tonnes per day, down from 7,000 tonnes per day stated in the original plan in 2024.

Public meeting an update on pushback on proposed landfill near Dresden
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is holding a public meeting to discuss ongoing efforts to push back against a proposed waste and landfill project by York1 Environmental Waste Solutions Inc. near Dresden.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, June 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ken Houston Agricultural Centre, at 1212 North St. in Dresden.
