Help me use less plastic

Hey guys. After unpacking and throwing away my trash from my recent backpacking trip, I am feeling quite gross about the amount of single use ziplock bags and plastic I had to use to repackage all my food, trash and other things. Does anyone have any suggestions for ways to keep food etc with multi use/non plastic bags while backpacking?
Thanks!

I need help keeping my pack ultralight

Hey everyone! I recently went on a five day backpacking trip in the Adirondacks, and despite trying my best to keep my pack light, it ended up being around 65 pounds, which was not so fun.

I had five days worth of food for my girlfriend and I, a semi light tent and sleeping set up and then just your normal base mid and shell layers. A quarter of our food was dehydrated and the other 3/4 was just normal pantry safe food and trail mix. One of the biggest weight contributors was the metal bar canisters we were required to carry, which we needed two of and definitely added at least 5 pounds on top of everything else.

I don’t know if anybody here has any tips for decreasing weight or if all of y’all are running 65+ pound packs on trips like that. Thanks!

High peaks trip

My girlfriend and I spent two days backpacking in the high peaks and it was pretty amazing. We unfortunately got rained out from a torrential downpour that completely flooded the valley floor where we were camping so had to hike out two days early, but it was still well worth it.

Best week on backpacking trips on the East Coast

Hey guys! I was born and raised in Vermont, so have done pretty much every trail here, but I was wondering if you guys have any good suggestions for a great seven day trip to do around the New England area (I trail ran the pressy traverse in 11 hours, so I’d say my cardio is fairly good, but I don’t have a ton of technical or climbing ability.
Happy trails!!

How to bring chicken on the trail?

Hey guys. I was wondering if any of you have suggestions for the best way to bring chicken for 5+ day backpacking trips (or other meats for that matter) that doesn’t require buying $12 meals. A few people have told me to buy an industrial dehydrator, but I was seeing if there’s any other way/bulk options.

How do you all organize multi-day backpacking trips?

Hey everyone! I am planning a few longer trips this year and realized my planning is a bit scattered. Right now I end up with a mix of CalTopo, notes, and a Google spreadsheet.

Curious what everyone else's workflow looks like. Are there any other better options out there/what do you guys do?
