Before and after

Kinda visible repair/total replacement. Bought this 12 years ago from a department store in Tokyo. Thought the blue leather was really cool. Fast forward to now, realised it was fake leather when everything started flaking off. Plus the depth of the bag was always a bit of a gripe of mine. Started unpicking everything in January, taking templates, adding some depth to both compartments plus another 2 small pouches to the front. Reused all the hardware, most of the internal fabric and mesh from the original bag except the buckle snapped on final reassembly. Replacement fabric is from a swag that I found and some navy drill cotton for the internal depth. I know the colour scheme doesn't really work but trying to just work with what I had. Its pretty much taken 4 months to complete and many late nights when the kids had gone to bed. I'm fairly confident the fabric will hold up for many more years to come. It isn't perfect but happy with the result.
