Hugo Calderano and An Jaehyun absolutely ripping it at China Smash

65s of pure rally, super fun all around. Hugo is really whipping the ball in that way only he knows how to. and I really feel when An Jaehyun puts the pressure on himself to lock in, he plays so well. but he just didn’t seem like pushing himself in that way today.

nonetheless fantastic rallies to watch, Hugo’s looking really solid right now. Def see him making at least QFs in this form

Absolutely nuts rally from Duda and Kallberg today [BUNDESLIGA]

The backhand lobs were already insane.. but then Kallberg attacking it and coming back to the table?? Nuts!!! The whole match was fantastic. Was down to the wire every point, definitely worth a watch! This one had everything!

Full FZD vs Togami Match highlights in Bundisliga (Chinese commentators)

Tough game, really interesting serve receive dynamics and overall dangerously fast returns from Togami. The commentators are pretty ridiculous, just yelling “漂亮 beautiful shot” or “好球good ball!” whenever FZD wins a point.. but this is the only full match highlight I could find, so I thought I’d share if you wanted to see it for yourself!

FZD vs Bertelsmeier match an absolute banger!!

Bertelsmeier honestly is looking majorly underrated (I think he’s #63 WR) right now? Could see him in the Top 20 in the near future, he’s already been doing really well at some of the WTT events recently. Really held his own against FZD. But FZD prevailed, as he often does!! Looked especially explosive too. What a monster. And backhands on both sides were nuts, with some fantastic rallies!

Between Dima and Ranefur today.. Beautiful day for heavy BH serves and rips!

As a BH dominant player myself, I've always loved Dima's unique service game (his Tomahawk, and then BH serve were my first serves I ever learned) and was woken up to Ranefur's even more extreme serve and 3rd ball kill BH style at the Team Worlds earlier this year. Really really fun to see these two take some serious wins and momentum. Also, Ranefur aside, obviously Dima is a legend, and is one of the hardest workers around for over two decades, so just happy to see him playing at such a high level at 37. Could easily see him re-enter the top 10 at this pace. Excited to see the next few matchups for these two, and Dima feels like he could make it all the way if he keeps playing like this.. But it will be interesting to see him against a Sora or Harimoto, Lin Shidong, who are dangerously fast, powerful and, ofc, young. But he absolutely demolished Truls and Junsung, which is a huge deal. And Ranefur against Wen Ruibo! Anyways. Sorry for the rant but I've really been enjoying Dima's unique and powerful style and serves, and Ranefur's was super fun to watch too.

Fang Bo gets a trigonometry lesson from his TTR call today 😂

I don’t know why but this felt like a bit from Parks and rec or Jury duty.. I was dying .. the animation getting all messed up from the high toss, the umpire being confused what he was asking about, and then his face afterwards. wow. 😂😂

Nonetheless it was a great match, much closer than the 3-0 game summary would tell!

once in a lifetime backhand from Shinozuka vs Lebrun game

and a nice thumbs up from Felix 😂

absolutely killer game from Shinozuka. his FH was unbeatable and he was extremely locked in, winning many of the rallies that most would expect Lebrun to win! fast, dangerous and killer even at midrange. what a match. loving this whole event so far !

Ma Long smacked by ball during final

I don’t know why I was Loling from this so hard but I think I’ve so rarely seen Ma Long be uncoordinated looking. So funny. Anyways great win from the classic duo!! Still the GOATs!!!

Ma Long and Xu Xin reunited on the worlds stage today

they did not disappoint!! absolute forehand magic!! Ma Long looks as good as ever, and was great to see the Xu Xin forehand get a couple absolutely insane rallies. I love at the end the casual walk away from the bomb they just dropped. Hoping this domination continues, what a frickin treat to see them!!!

Felix and Alexis Lebrun battle perfectly illustrated by this clip

had to grab this rally - the differing playstyles, the double yellow cards and timeouts, the neck and neck score line.. and even the alexis scoff at the end. really encapsulates their brotherly battle ! always a treat when we get to see them!

Discussion on US Smash Upsets

Wang Chuqin to Lind (again, 1-3!), Calderano to Shinozuka (1-3) Wang Manyu to Sato (0-3), Shi Xunyao to Meshref (1-3) and now Harimoto to Sidorenko (0-3!)

All fantastic players of course, and seemingly bad days for all of them - but its following another pattern from last US Smash, there were tons of huge upsets last time as well... LJK to Bardet, SYS to Chen Yi, Truls to Tanaka...

I wonder what it is about these US Smashes that puts the highest ranked players on the defense a lot more. I know last time there was a conditions issue, and practice/T2-4 tables were different than the Maverick tables which was messing with everyone's games... But I just went to the US Smash today in person and the conditions seemed pretty great! Anyways, just curious on peoples thoughts.

Personally think it could be a mixture of rare time zone for most people, the Joola table perhaps, and a mix of nerves as its a smash as well. But unsure!

anyone bummed out seeing this in the background of the US Smash

just empty seats, or people not focused and on their phones up front? I'd be either taking videos myself or absolutely captivated if it was me up there

Kao Cheng-Jui is back in the circuit

seems to be in great form after a close well played game with Xue Fei, and put on some muscle as well after the brief military stint

Calderano and Gauzy with some absolute banger rallies !!

always up in the air with these two showmen! hugo was all brute force today and Gauzy had some incredible saves, and of course vice versa. love seeing them battle it out as it always ends up in an incredible mid / long range rally. again excuse the fps it’s this event’s stream is quite low quality, unfortunately.
