Need recommendations for an University professor
Ok, so I myself am a casual e-ink user (I have a Kobo that I use for reading) but I have recently come to the idea to find an e-ink device to save my mum from eye-strain.
For context, she is an university professor and she reads and reviews a lot of articles, PhD students work and similar stuff. She reads most of these things digitally and then writes the reviews. Her eyes are suffering a bit as a result.
Important thing to note is that while she has no issues with using technology, she is not someone who has patience or desire to learn about different systems or get accustomed to complicated programs.
Features I think she would absolutely need:
- Writing to text: she would annotate with the pencil but then later would rely on these notes to write the review. This must work perfectly.
- These notes would somehow easily and seamlessly need to sync to her computer (she uses a Macbook) - no complicated programs to do this!
- The device which is most compatible with the Apple ecosystem would have a big advantage here.
As for size, I think 11in would be enough, so it's not cumbersome to carry around or hold in her hand while she reads in bed for example. I believe there is no need for colour, so B&W would be the choice for better contrast.
Options I have seen include Remarkable, Viwoods and Boox, but I would love to hear first-hand experiences and specific model recommendations.
Budget is virtually a non-issue since she has some money to burn provided by her workplace.
Thanks!
