MacPulse - Your system explained

Hey everyone!

Developer Saturday today and i'd like to talk about something i've been working on for a few months now. The idea started from multiple friends of mine who jumped on a mac and wanted to game, but couldn't understand the activity monitor or didn't have tools as MSI afterburner and Riva tuner on windows.

Macpulse basically watches the same stuff as activity monitor (cpu, memory, thermals, battery, network, disk, gpu) but instead of just showing you numbers it tries to explain what's going on. This is done by the Insights Engine, a rule based engine that i created. It will tell you when your pc thermal throttled and for how long for example, or what app caused that, give you advice on optimizing the pc, warn you about disk usage and many many more.

It can also record performance sessions with 1 second intervals to get graphs about fps, cpu, gpu etc and export them as csv if you want.

It keeps 30 days of history on your mac and uses that information to give you a better understanding of your system. There's also fan control if you want custom profiles.

It's native swiftui, it runs perfectly on my m2 air without any impact.

14 day trial if anyone wants to check it out, 14.99 euros one time purchase after that.
It's also available on Mac app store and Setapp as standalone app.

Thanks!

My Mac apps are now available on Setapp

Hi everyone,

This week, three of my apps went live on Setapp's new single-app marketplace:

Taphouse — GUI for Homebrew. Browse, install, update, and manage packages without typing brew commands. Manage services, taps, and Brewfiles from one interface. Some of you might remember this one from my launch post a few months back.

MacPulse — System monitor with an Insights Engine that explains your Mac in plain English. Instead of raw numbers, it tells you what's actually happening and what to do about it. 30-day history, performance session recording, fan control.

Captain's Deck — Dual-pane file manager with SFTP, S3, built-in terminal, inline Git, and keyboard-first navigation.

All three are native SwiftUI, Apple Silicon optimized, one-time purchase (no subscriptions). Also available direct with 14-day free trials:

Of course all apps can be purchased as direct download as always and Macpulse with Captain's Deck are also available on the Mac App store. (More info about that on their website).

All 3 have received major updates and features and keep being actively developed furthermore based on user's feedback and requests.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

developer of NostalgiApp here.

Got some updates to share since my last post, many updates have been shipped in the past 2 weeks and i want to talk about 3 of them since they touch on topics that were mentioned by you.

  1. Shipped a massive speed optimization update. The app feels VERY smooth and is much faster than a launchbox installation on windows with the latest cpu using the same collection. In some cases of absolutely huge libraries in external hard drives, there's been an up to 10x increase in speed on browsing, searching, and app launching.

  2. iCloud sync. NostalgiApp now syncs your favorites, play counts, play time, last-played dates, notes, star ratings, progress, custom playlists, ROM metadata edits, and emulator save games. These come with you on another mac as soon as you launch the app.

  3. Soundtracks library. This existed for eXoDOS media pack, which is a collection of soundtracks curated by the eXo team. Now you can import your own soundtracks to the app. Pc games have good soundtracks but many of you would love to import the amazing soundtracks from console games. You can link them to games in your library which means they will start autoplaying when you select the game from the list!. It supports multi-disc soundtracks, you can edit the cover art, and more.

Thanks again for your feedback, all of your comments help further improve the app and keep adding amazing features.

If you want to try out some retro PC & console gaming on your mac, check it out at https://nostalgi.app

Hello everyone,

i'm the developer of Taphouse(Homebrew GUI) and MacPulse (Stats monitoring and logging) and want to show you my File Manager app, Captain's Deck.

Now, i'd like to clarify, this is not for Finder users who are comfortable with drag n' drop, visual browsing and don't think in terms of file operations.

Captain's Deck appeals to:

- Power users who manage files as a core part of their workflow.

- SysAdmins and DevOps that SSH into servers, manage configs, move files between local and remote.

- Developers that navigate large project trees, want git integration and the terminal is always a keystroke away

- Web Developers/Designers who constantly move assets between local and staging/production servers via SFTP/S3

And also, people who grew up on orthodox file managers. For example Ex-windows users who lived in Total Commander, FAR manager or Directory Opus.

Linux users who used Midnight Commander, Double Commander or Krusader

Anyone who used Norton Commander, hence the nostalgic theme included.

Problem: macOS has no native dual-pane file manager for keyboard-driven bulk file operations across local and remote servers.

Compare: Captain's Deck is fully native Swift/AppKit with real Vim navigation (hjkl, visual selection,  gg/G, zz scroll), a built-in terminal with path sync, and a JavaScript plugin system. It connects to SFTP, S3, WebDAV, SMB, NFS, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox — all from one app. Norton Commander retro theme with  CRT scanline effects for the nostalgic. You can also customize your own theme, for those with colorblindness or unique tastes.

 Core features:

  - Git integration (status badges, stage/unstage, visual diff)

  - Browse ZIP/RAR/7z archives like folders

  - Folder sync, batch rename, disk usage analyzer

  - Fully customizable keyboard shortcuts

Norton Commander Theme

Pricing: 19.99 euros after 14 day trial. Available as a direct download and on Mac App store.
(some features are not available on MAS, check website).

Honestly, the features are too many to even list here, so if you are interested check out the features and the guides sections on the website: http://www.captains-deck.com

Thank you

I'll probably start with Flight of the Amazon Queen, as it's one of the few games that i never finished back in the day and i remember almost nothing about it.
