What's the story behind the bell on the table?

What's the story behind the bell on the table?

Has anyone else noticed that there’s always a bell sitting on the table?

I can’t quite remember the origin story of the bell, but I remember it being used pretty often several years ago, back when there were a lot more cohosts around.

These days, it's hardly being used anymore. Why is it still there? Does it have some symbolic meaning?

Does anyone remember the story behind it? I feel like there’s some history here that I’ve completely forgotten.

No Ana, there isn't a post-Trump version of Lindsey Graham

Lindsey Graham has spent his career aligning himself with whoever holds the most influence and power in the Conservative Party to push some of its most repressive agenda. There isn't a different version of him depending on whether you were part of his Republican circle or not.

It's the same politician making choices that serve his political interests and help him stay in power. You don't need to invent an alternative version of Lindsey Graham to justify calling him your friend.

Interesting that repeated criticism on Sara or Alyssa are allowed, but anything about Whoopi gets a warning

The same standards should apply to all the cohosts. If repetitive criticism of Sara and Alyssa is permitted, why did criticism of Whoopi result in different treatment? I’m curious what criteria explains the difference, or whether personal agreement or disagreement with certain hosts’ views is influencing how the rules are being applied.

Rosie was the only cohost who consistently called out Whoopi's nonsense

This recent surge about Rosie got me thinking that Rosie O was one of the only co-hosts (aside from BW) willing to directly challenge Whoopi when she thought she was wrong. Love her or hate her, Rosie didn't just sit there, if she strongly disagreed, she said so.

Over the years, it often feels like Whoopi's opinions go largely unchallenged at the table. That's why Rosie stood out. She wasn't afraid of tension or pushback, and the result felt more like an actual debate than everyone waiting for Whoopi's final word.

I wonder if the recent excitement for Rosie isn't really about nostalgia. Maybe people just miss having someone on the panel willing to call out Whoopi's bad takes and force a real discussion.
