Should I try applying to Howard in hopes of financial aid?
I hope this question reaches out to as much past Caribbean students as possible. I am a Jamaican student who is currently attending sixth form (it’s like a pre university program). I am finishing up my unit 1 CAPE exams for the year.
I have always been interested in studying abroad but I believed that it would be a waste of my time if even trying since I am studying business. Anyways I changed my mind, figured why not give it a try since I’m almost done with high school.
In terms of my stats or academic resume, I’m a pretty average student with pretty weak ECs (chess, computer, volleyball, key club). I have a 3.60 QPA for my first semester, passed 11 CSEC subjects with 5 CAPE subjects pending. Also I got a few awards from my time in high school as well
I have been on a mission to use my two years to at-least build up on that. Additionally, I plan to study for the SATs this summer so I can upcoming fall. I hope that if I can get a slightly higher than average score that I could be considered for a scholarship.
