Hi, I moved to a new house last year and previous owners had this rhododendron in the garden. It blooms, but looks leggy and generally sad. I suspect because it's in poor clay soil and is south west facing, so it only gets some shade in the mornings, and then bakes in harsh sun the whole day. I was thinking of doing a hard prune but not sure this would solve the problem. I don't think I can keep this poor plant happy in these conditions. Should I just cut it down altogether? I'm in 9a zone.
