Presence detected alarm

I have a toddler car seat and an infant car seat base in the 2nd row captains chair seats at all times. The infant seat is a new addition and since I’ve put that in there, I have been getting incessant seat belt chimes while driving (the base is attached by isofix latches, so I should probably just buckle the seatbelt), but that isn’t even the worst thing.

Every time I leave the car, I will come back to it with the alarm going off, the daytime running lights and back lights on, but the vehicle is still locked. Once I get in, the screen has a “presence detected” prompt with a button to “silence alarm”. I also get a push notification from the app that states “car locked with occupant inside”. Obviously, there is no one inside.

I’ve resorted to opening the app once I get far enough after getting out, then unlocking and locking it again…that seems to stop the alarm or anything pertaining to this issue.

It is maddening though to have constant dinging while driving or to come back to your car after leaving it for 30 mins and realizing the alarm and lights were going the entire time you were gone.

I asked the dealer service department about this and they basically said that the sensors are overly sensitive and there’s not really anything that can be done.

Has anyone else gone through this and actually gotten a fix or at least calmed down this behavior a bit?

I’m on the last rope with this car…I’ve had it for 5 months and it’s been in service 8 or 9 times for a whole host of all different things with the total shop time being around 6 weeks. This is untenable if it continues.
