Powertrain warranty enough? Or full coverage?

I’m close to pulling the trigger on a 2024 110 P400 S with 30k miles. Well maintained and well optioned with everything I’m looking for. The car has 2 years left of factory warranty.

The dealership (not a JLR dealership) agreed to include a 10yr/100k mile powertrain warranty with purchase price ($54k). Or I could add a 10yr/100k mile full coverage warranty for $6800.

Is the powertrain warranty enough? Or should I add the full coverage warranty?

Bad idea? Picking up a 2024 Defender 110 S w/ 30k miles tomorrow

I've been looking to replace my wife's aging 2013 Toyota Highlander with something newer and nicer for our family car. I've done an insane amount of research on the new Defender.

I narrowed down the specs for what I was looking for:

  • White with tan, preferably vintage tan
  • P400
  • Third row and three climate zones
  • Heated and ventilated seats
  • Clearsight mirror
  • Later model year, preferably 24 or newer

Found this exact spec:

2024 110 S, P400, Fuji White, Vintage Tan

Optioned with:

  • Family pack
  • Air suspension
  • Extended leather
  • 20" 5098 gloss silver wheels
  • 18-way heated and cooled seats
  • ClearsSight
  • Vintage tan Windsor leather
  • Premium interior protection adn storage pack

30k miles, 1-owner, $54k

Not too far from me, and I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. I know I'm losing a lot of the simplicity and reliability of the Toyota, but I'm still having a hard time gauging how risky this move is. We only put on average around 7k miles on the Highlander so we're not racking up tons of miles.

The good news is that, because this is a 2024, it still has two years remaining of the factory warranty. Routine maintenance has been done at the Land Rover dealership locally, as this was a leased vehicle.

One flag on the Carfax is that the differential and wheel bearings were replaced at 13,000 miles. My suspicion is this was an issue related to build quality rather than wear and tear.

Anything I should know going into this? Terrible idea? Over-hyped reliability issues? Life's short get something you love? What do you all think?

Edit: Added model specifics.

Ideal Used Spec?

Looking for advice on the best used Defender 110 years/specs to target from a value and ownership perspective. I’ve gone down a bit of a rabbit hole.

Current thinking:
- 2022–2024 Defender 110
- P400
- White with Acorn or Vintage Tan interior
- Budget around $55k
- Use case: Family daily driver, ~10k miles/year, occasional road trips

Trying to find the sweet spot after initial depreciation hit.

Main questions:
- What years would you target or avoid? I’ve read 2020s were buggy and 2023+ are more reliable.
- Best value trim/package setup?
- Which options are worth it?
- What’s the sweet spot for mileage vs value?

Currently looking for:
- Meridian audio
- ClearSight mirror
- 3 climate zones (for kids in back) and cooled seats
- air suspension

Would appreciate advice from any spec gurus out there!!
