90 or 110

Love the look of the 90. However leaning toward the 110 as it seems more “practical.” Curious what everyone’s experience is living with the 90 day to day.

I rarely have anyone in my rear seats but do use to throw laptop, suit jacket etc.

Thanks in advance.

P400 vs V8

I’m looking at two used defenders one with the P400 inline 6 and the other is the V8, which is about $20,000 more. I have driven the 6, but not the V8 yet (will this weekend). What are people‘s thoughts on these two is the V8 worth the extra money? trying to consider things like resale value, maintenance, and reliability as well. Has anyone owned one of them and then switched to the other? just looking for experiences/thoughts.

New Defender 110 - What to do next?

Just picked up this 2026 Defender 110 X-Dynamic SE P400

My GAP tool showed up, and this weekend I plan to see what I can do. Also planning a trip to Land Rover Experience in Carmel.

You might say I'm fulling embracing the Land Rover ownership experience. What am I missing?

Note: The LR4 in one of the photos is not mine, but one of our horse boarders

Upgraded from a RR Velar to a 2026 Defender 110 S

I am absolutely loving the color but really like the black lettering. I have seen some on eBay but they don’t seem to be the right size. Does anyone have a link to some that they bought? I am looking to replace the front and the back.

Defender P400 i6 Exhaust Manifold Stud Replacement

There have been failures noted relative to exhaust manifold studs on i6 engines in LR Forums. Common symptoms are rattling at start up and broken studs caught in skid plates below engine compartment. Since I intend to keep my Defender for the foreseeable future elected to proactively replace them. Happy I did as 4 were loose and thus likely to fail (2022 110 w/ 31k miles). If they break, as others have had happen, it is a very challenging process to remove the sheared off studs from the block. Replacements installed are made of titanium and sold by Saltek Motorsports. Filed a NHTSA report in the hopes issue will be more closely reviewed by JLR to better determine scope/potential recall.

Powertrain warranty enough? Or full coverage?

I’m close to pulling the trigger on a 2024 110 P400 S with 30k miles. Well maintained and well optioned with everything I’m looking for. The car has 2 years left of factory warranty.

The dealership (not a JLR dealership) agreed to include a 10yr/100k mile powertrain warranty with purchase price ($54k). Or I could add a 10yr/100k mile full coverage warranty for $6800.

Is the powertrain warranty enough? Or should I add the full coverage warranty?

My 2026 Defender 110 P400 ownership experience, custom order to flatbed in 324 km

I figured I’d share my Defender ownership odyssey so far because it has gone from one of the best new car delivery experiences I’ve had to something almost comical in a ridiculously short amount of time.
I custom ordered a 2026 Defender 110 P400 in Woolstone Green with Caraway leather, exactly how I wanted it, and spent months looking forward to the thing arriving.
When delivery day finally came, the dealership absolutely nailed it. The Defender was sitting there looking incredible, they had flowers and chocolates waiting for us, everyone made a big deal out of the delivery, and it genuinely felt like I was picking up something special.
Then came the drive home.
I had about a two hour highway drive from the dealership and the Defender was fantastic. Comfortable, quiet, effortless power from the P400, and just that feeling of finally driving the vehicle I’d been waiting for. I got home thinking I had absolutely made the right decision.
That honeymoon period lasted 234 km.
I started noticing an increasingly nasty noise from the brakes at low speed, particularly as the vehicle came to a stop. At first I wondered if it was something minor, new brakes bedding in, something from washing it, whatever. But it progressed to the point where the grinding and clunking noise was bad enough that there was no way I was comfortable continuing to drive a brand new vehicle like that.
So, with 234 km on the odometer, my custom ordered Defender was loaded onto a flatbed and sent back to the dealership.
There is something especially painful about watching the vehicle you waited months for, that was delivered with flowers and chocolates days earlier, disappear down the road on the back of a tow truck before you’ve even finished the first tank of fuel.
I knew going into Land Rover ownership that the reliability jokes existed. I just didn’t expect the vehicle to start contributing material to them quite this quickly.
To the dealership’s credit, they’ve been responsive and I’ve been provided with a loaner, so this isn’t intended as a dealership bashing post. I’m genuinely curious to see what they find and how Land Rover handles it.
Custom order. Woolstone Green. Caraway leather. Flowers and chocolates. Dream drive home. Flatbed.
234 km.
I’ll update this once I know exactly what failed.

Refrigerator temp

For those of you who have one, how cold does it get your drinks? I’m finding mine doesn’t work so great so curious if broken or normal.

What to look for in a used 2025 x-dynamic.

Looking at potentially getting a 2025 to avoid the first year depreciation. Seeing lower mileage decent examples in the 70-75k range. Versus new at ~85k range with the right options.

Any potential issues that I should specifically be on the lookout for when I go take a look at one? I’m always skeptical of people selling their cars a year into ownership but I really like the interior upgrades of the 25+.

Finally did the thing

Meet…Nigel? Jarvis? (My license plate frame says powered by Stark Industries).

2023 Defender X 110 P400

The damn thing is nice. I’ve got a perma-crick in my neck from constantly turning around to ogle it. Many creature comforts and rides like a dream, especially compared to the Silverado Trail Boss that I traded out of.

Bought used from a local dealer that is a sister to the local dealer that serviced it regularly and sold it brand new (both very close to my house). They beat everybody’s offer on my trade and made the buying experience so nice! Took 90 minutes including test drive to driving away.

Did end up buying an extended platinum level warranty for about an extra $4,200.

Opinions on the Carmel Defender Experience Center

Anyone here ever gone through the Defender Experience Center in Carmel, CA? I’m excited for the meetup right down the street from me next month, but it seems like a lot of people prefer the experience centers. Kinda curious what your guy’s thoughts are on it, because it’ll be a trip for me to get up to the center. Oh, and do I need to have AT tires? I have the Scorpion P zero AS tires.

New Defender - seeking advice on bad ceramic coating at dealership

Hi all. I just purchased a new (to me) 2025 Defender 110 with 6k miles from the dealership. I have never loved a vehicle more. Unfortunately, there has been a problem. The dealership "threw in" a free ceramic paint coating. We got to drive the Defender for three days, then I took it back to the dealership to have the ceramic coating applied.

When they called us to pick it up, I noticed there were water spots all over that did not wipe off - they appeared to be under the ceramic coating. The service agent told me it was the work of their "third party" vendor and they would have it fixed. They said it looked like the vendor had not buffed out the water spots when they put the ceramic coating on so the spots are under the ceramic.

A few days later they called us back in to pick it up and I noticed that there were still many spots - and a white residue around the paint on the interior of the car. Like, smeared into the crevasses. We explained how disappointed were were and they promised to make it right - with their vendor and approving all the work with their "in house" detailer.

They've had the car for an additional five days and just called to tell us the car had been returned and is still not "up to their standards" so now they want to keep it for an another week to have their in-house detailer do the work. (Note, these standards did not appear to exist before - TWO times they had me in to pick it up and just wanted me to take the car and leave - *I* had to point out all the issues).

At this point I am feeling beyond frustrated. I have had the loaner, a Range Rover, which I do not like for much much longer than I got to drive my Defender. Aside from being angry, I am concerned about what they are putting my Land Rover through by the constant "retouching" in an effort to fix the botched ceramic coating job. Has anyone had any experience with JLR and a bad ceramic job? Does anyone have any advice for me about how the paint may look in a year? Five years?

I am in California and the ceramic coating sounded like a good idea - we have lots of sun and I was hoping the ceramic coating would help prevent sun damage when I agreed to it. Now I'm just worried about damage damage. I am not a person prone to confrontation but this is a huge purchase for my family with resale value down the road that I don't want to mess up.

Or is this not a big deal? I'd love some advice for a newbie. This isn't the "I joined the club!" post I was hoping to make. Maybe once I get my car back I can officially join the club with a happy pic. Please be kind, I'm already distraught!

What’s with the windshield wiper wash?

I mean, is this more effective than the standard style? It really does not seem like it.
