Upgrade from OnePlus Watch 3 to Pixel Watch 4

Hi

I currently wear the OnePlus Watch 3, which is generally great, but recently scrolling with the crown stopped functioning. So, basically, I can use pinching only to zoom. This annoys me a little bit, which triggered my brain to start thinking of an upgrade.

I switched to a Pixel 10 phone, so now I have a feeling that a Pixel Watch would be the best match.

I know this:

- Battery - worries me a little bit, but probably I could add charging to my life schedule during my shower as the Pixel Watch charges much faster compared to the OPW3.

- Durability - this one worries me a lot because after a year of using OPW3, it still looks like new. I'm pretty sure that's not going to be that smooth with PW4.

- Style - worries me, but also worth a try

I'm probably interested in compatibility with my phone. For example - syncing notifications via WiFi doesn't work at all on OPW3. This is really annoying as I should carry my phone with me all the time even if I have a good Wifi connection.

From other point I understand that technically OPW is better and it makes more sense to upgrade to OPW4. But tbh they look worse compared to OPW3.

Has anyone switched from OPW3 to PW4 and is really happy with this decision?

Qi2.2 stock charger replacement

I have a Pixel 10 Pro XL, and it is incredibly picky about wireless charging - it basically rejects any charger that isn't perfectly aligned or compliant. I never had this issue with previous phones, but the Pixel would just overheat and refuse to charge on the stock BMW charger tray. It really seems to require Qi2 to charge properly.

I wanted a completely clean solution without any extra wires hanging around, and I absolutely wanted to be able to close the center console tray lid over the cup holders when the charger is not in use.

The Setup:

Charger: Ugreen Qi2.2 25W

Power: PD 12V 3A board

The Install:

I soldered the wires directly to the internal 12V socket. This makes it clean, but still lets me easily disconnect the board and remove the whole setup if I ever need to go back to stock.

The PD board is hidden right under the original wireless charging module (under the built-in heat sink/radiator assembly), and I tucked the excess wireless charger cable into that cavity as well.

The wireless charger itself sits on the double-sided tape.

Disassembly is actually pretty simple:

Remove the two rubber pads at the bottom of the cup holders and unscrew the two torx screws hidden underneath.

Pull up the cup holder assembly (it just sits on clips).

Remove the factory wireless charger module - it’s not screwed in, just locked with two plastic latches. (be careful with the wiring connectors because it’s a pretty tight fit in there)

The Result:

I finally have a solid, high-speed Qi2.2 charger sitting exactly where the stock one was. The phone holds its place perfectly.

The only minor aesthetic issue is that the Ugreen charger isn't black, so it looks a little meh against the dark interior if the lid is wide open. But it gets the job done perfectly. Plus, since the hard part of the wiring and disassembly is done, I can easily swap the pad out for a black one in the future if I want.
