I had CachyOS installed for the past couple weeks on a btrfs formatted drive, and it was great, until it wasn’t. Started getting a lot file “not writeable” errors before the system crashed and wouldn’t boot anymore.

After a lot of troubleshooting in a live environment, I found that there were a ton of errors in the filesystem. From what I found, at that point you’re pretty much SOL on btrfs. There is btrfs check —repair, but with that you’re still facing data loss, and for me it didn’t fix anything anyway.

But it seems like ext4 is a little more repairable with fsck. So I’m considering reinstalling with that in case something like this happens again, and since none of the btrfs features saved me. Any of you guys have experience with this, or prefer one filesystem over the other?

I’m counting this as a fluke more than anything. I was previously running Manjaro with btrfs on that drive for the past year, and it was rock solid stable. I just want to be a little more prepared in case this happens again.

Any obvious reasons why that won’t work?

I need 165mm cranks for bike fit, and doesn’t seem there’s a lot of options for 11 speed, and the 48/31 chainrings seem like a nice upgrade. And the shimano RX810 2x11 cranks aren’t available in 165, and the RX600 is only available in 46/30.

I know 10sp cranks *usually* work with 11sp stuff. Besides maybe needing the grx front derailleur, are there any obvious incompatibilities?
