Newest purchase - 2025 Luxembourg 2€ commemorative
Really like the design on this one. Shame it has such a low mintage.
My own "K" mintmark find, on a Sammarinese 2 euro coin from 2017
Since a euro coin was recently posted with a "K" counterstamp, I have decided to post one of my finds with such a counterstamp on it. I have found several "K" (or "JK", if you prefer) counterstamps on euro coins in circulation, but this is the 'rarest' coin on which it showed up for me - San Marino, 2eur 2017 (IFC Mintage: 597,400). I found this one in a coin roll hunt in Vienna in 2024. I was quite disappointed by this find, since I still needed this coin for my collection at the time.
My friend got even unluckier - he found the mintmark on a Luxembourg key date 2eur coin (I forgot exactly what year it was, but it had a mintage of 50,000 IFC, so it must've been from 2017 - 2022...)
Super happy about this find!
This coin commemorates slovene mathematician Josip Plemelj. I found it in a coin roll in Vienna just now. Happy to find this one since I actually used one of his theorems (Sokhotski-Plemelj Theorem) in one of my physics classes a while ago. Cool to see my coin collecting and physics worlds come together for this one.
The designs of the new vatican standard euro coins have finally been unveiled!
The Vatican has finally unveiled the designs of their new standard euro coins! The coins have all been updated with symbols related to the new Pope Leo XIV. The 1c, 2c, and 5c coins depict Leo XIV's coat of arms, and the 10c, 20c, 50c, and 1eur coin depict a side portrait of Leo XIV. The 2 euro coin combines both a portrait of Leo XIV with elements from his coat of arms.
It is unclear which of these coins will enter circulation, and with what mintage they will be issued. However, the 2026 Vatican BU set can be ordered from the CFN Webshop effective immediately - provided you have a registered account with them. We can only hope that all of these denominations will enter circulation with a decently high mintage, so that collectors from all over Europe can enjoy finding all of these coins in circulation.

My first Miki Muster!
Found in a coin roll in Vienna. Not too rare, but still my first find of this coin.

100€: Leonardo da Vinci on the front, adults and children admiring art on the back.
200€: Bertha von Suttner on the front, a tree-covered square with adults and children talking, walking, playing, etc. on the back.
Rivers and Birds:
5€: A wallcreeper on a mountain landscape on the front, the European Parliament on the back.
10€: A kingfisher and a waterfall on the front, the European Commission on the back.
20€: A bee-eater colony on a river valley on the front, the European Central Bank on the back.
50€: A white stork flying over a meandering river on the front, the Court of Justice of the EU on the back.
100€: An avocet on a mud flat on the front, the EU Council and the Council of the EU on the back.
200€: A northern gannet flying over ocean waves on the front, the European Court of Auditors on the back.
10 proposals have been unveiled, of which five are from each series! The best part is: You can voice your opinion on which design you like the most. To vote for your favourite design, click here: https://surveys.ecb.europa.eu/10b/neweuro/. The survey is open until 21. September!
Note that these are banknote proposals. The final design of the banknote may change significantly!

Bulgaria will issue a second 2 euro commemorative in 2027, dedicated to: "20th Anniversary of Bulgaria's EU Admission"
Bulgaria plans to issue a second 2 euro commemorative in 2027, dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of Bulgaria's EU Admission in 2007. This coin is a recent addition to Bulgaria's 2027 issuance programme - originally, Bulgaria only planned to issue one 2 euro commemorative in 2027, dedicated to the Bulgarian rose. Both coins are planned to be released in May 2027. The mintages and designs of both coins are - as of now - unknown.
Bulgaria has also proposed the following 2 euro commemoratives for the coming few years (these are preliminary and not officially confirmed)
+ 2028 150th Anniversary of the Liberation of Bulgaria
+ 2029 150th Anniversary of the Tarnovo Constitution
+ 2029 25th Anniversary of the 2004 EU Expansion (Common-issue commemorative)
There is no news yet as to whether or not Bulgaria will issue a 2 euro commemorative in 2026.

The design of Germany's first 2027 2 euro commemorative, dedicated to "Nordrhein-Westfalen", has been unveiled!
The design of Germany's first 2027 2 euro commemorative - dedicated to the German Bundesland of Nordrhein-Westfalen (as part of the Bundesländer II series) - has just been unveiled!
The coin depicts the Aachener Dom, one of the oldest cathedrals in Europe. It was originally constructed as the chapel of emperor Charlemagne's royal palace, where he was later buried after his death. The cathedral also served as the location for the coronation of several Roman-German kings, up until 1531.
The octagonal dome of the cathedral is also prominently displayed on Germany's 2023 2 euro commemorative, dedicated to the 1275th anniversary of Charlemagne's birth.
This coin will be Germany's first 2 euro commemorative in 2027. Germany also plans to issue a second commemorative in 2027, dedicated to Hans-Dietrich Genscher, in March 2027. The design of that coin has not been unveiled yet.

Could we get an ÖBB flair for us austrian jetlaggers 🥺🇦🇹
The ÖBB has honoured JLTG by putting the Snack Zone in their new trains, I think it is only fair that this sub should add an ÖBB flair as a sign of mutual respect. Besides, we did see some ÖBB action in a few seasons - even if it was just for a few train rides here and there :)
EDIT: Tyvm, eternal glory to the mods 🫡
Why is tpg so shit in France?
Am here in Geneva due to a month-long internship, and I only managed to get a hotel in Prevessin due to the G7 situation. Ever since then, I've been dealing with the absolute clusterfuck which is tpg's service to France. Buses which are constantly incredibly overcrowded, even very late into the night. Service only once every 30-45 mins, sometimes even up to an hour. The only line to a tram from where I live completely stops on a Sunday!! And the delays. A 15min delay which nearly caused me to miss a train. On a Saturday, at 6:30am, with barely anyone on the road!! What the hell?!?!?!?!
When I went to the supermarket to buy something, I came back right as the bus was supposed to leave, only to find out it arrived a minute EARLY and left. Now I have to wait 37 minutes for the next bus, and as you can see, the seating opportunities here are fantastic.
Like, I am from Vienna, this shit would never happen here for a village this close to the city. I did my bachelor's in Canada and they had far better public transit than whatever the hell this is...
Idk if this is a cantonal problem or a problem with france, but what I can say is that this ain't normal and if I lived here I'd be losing my mind daily over this.
Austria will issue a 2 euro commemorative coin in 2027!
Yes, you have read that right. Austria - after a long, 9 year wait since its last national commemorative was issued - seems to have finally been brought to its senses. On 2. December, 2026 (not a typo), Austria will release a brand new 2 euro commemorative!
The coin will be dedicated to the composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Although he was born in Germany, he lived in Vienna for 35 years, where he composed some of his most well-known pieces. In 1827, he succumbed to illness and was buried in Vienna's Zentralfriedhof.
The coin will be issued in Austria's 2027 BU set on 2. December, 2026 (again, not a typo), alongside a PP-version which will be issued with a limited mintage. The coin is scheduled to enter general circulation with an unknown mintage on 4. January, 2027.
Some sources are also reporting that Austria will issue a yearly series of 2 euro commemoratives, dedicated to Austrian composers. I could not find official confirmation of this, but it seems like this information was only forwarded to dealers for the time being.

France will update their 1c, 2c, and 5c coin designs in 2027!
In 2027, France will change their circulation 1c, 2c, and 5c designs! This was a long-anticipated decision in the community, and follows the designs of French 1eur, 2eur coins being changed in 2022, in addition to French 10c, 20c, and 50c coins having their designs changed in 2024.
Standard circulation euro coins can only have their designs changed once every 15 years in accordance with EU Regulation 729/2014 Art. 7, unless the coins depict a head of state which has changed.
We do not know what France's new 1c, 2c, 5c coins will depict, or whether they will all depict different motifs, but we will keep you updated as soon as we become aware of any new details. Furthermore, we do not know if these coins will be issued in circulation. However, France has issued 1c, 2c, 5c coins into circ every year since 2002, so it is likely that the new coins will be findable in change as well.

First look at Luxembourg's new 2€ circulation coin
Ireland's first 2026 2 euro commemorative has been unveiled!
Ireland's first 2 euro commemorative - dedicated to the Presidency of the EU Council - has finally been unveiled. The coin shows the logo of Ireland's EU Presidency - the arms of the logo symbolize growth, dynamism, and movement. Each arm of the logo contains 27 discs, representing the 27 EU members - the arms form a star in the centre, a homage to the stars on the EU flag.
This coin will be issued for circulation with a mintage of 500,000 starting tomorrow. The coin will also be issued in a proof set, but it is unclear whether or not this proof set also includes Irish regular coins from 2026 (as was the case with Ireland's 2023 commemorative).
Ireland plans to issue a second 2 euro commemorative in 2026. It is unclear if the other commemorative will enter circulation, but it will be issued in coincards and proof capsules. The motif of Ireland's second 2026 commemorative is still unknown.
