Custom Boss Pet Drops

https://reddit.com/link/1wxnntn/video/xxrortpe4jth1/player

Hey hey, a few days ago I posted about the Grand Exchange I'm building for the server, and it seemed to be received well. Today I'd like to show another feature inspired by Old School RuneScape: pet drops. The video shows a Zakum kill where the mini zakum pet drops.

Here's how it works:

Some monsters and bosses can drop a small version of themselves as a pet. Every kill is one roll, on top of the normal loot.

  • The chance is low and the same for everybody. Drop rate, drop cards and buffs don't change it. Right now I'm thinking around 1 in 500 for Zakum and 1 in 3,000 for Manon, but that isn't final.
  • Only the player who did the most damage can pick the pet up. Not the party, and not anyone else after waiting.
  • The pet is permanent. It never expires, and it can't be traded or sold. It stays with the character that earned it, so if you see someone with a Baby Zakum, they got it themselves.
  • Every pet you find is recorded in a new Pets tab in the Monster Book, and it stays there even if you lose the pet.

No Cash Shop, no donor rewards and no buying one from another player. The only way to get one is to kill the monster until it drops.

Is this something you'd like to see on a server? And which bosses would you want a pet from?

If you want to see some of the current progress feel free to check it out here https://maplesynergy.dev it also showcases the grand exchange more in depth.

Grand Exchange feature idea?

I'm building a Grand Exchange for my own server that would replace the Free Market shops entirely. It works the same way as the Grand Exchange in Old School RuneScape.

For those who haven't played OSRS, here's how it works:

- You place an offer instead of opening a shop. Pick an item, a quantity and a price per item, either to buy or to sell.

- The server matches buyers and sellers automatically. If someone is selling at or below what you offer to pay, the trade happens instantly. If not, your offer waits until someone comes along.

- It keeps working while you're offline. Your mesos or items are held by the exchange, and offers can fill partially over time.

- You collect the results from the NPC. Bought items and sale mesos wait in your offer slot until you pick them up, and you can cancel an offer at any time to get the rest back.

- Every item has a guide price based on recent trades, so you can see roughly what something is worth.

No more browsing through FM rooms, no more leaving a character logged in as a shop, and no more hunting for the one store with a fair price.

Right now it covers stackable items (potions, scrolls, ores, etc. drops). Equipment isn't part of it yet: since every equip has its own stats, it needs a slightly different flow that I still have to figure out.

Is this something you'd like to see on a server? And if you have ideas for how equipment should work in a system like this, I'd love to hear them.

I built a site where your community can design and vote on custom badges for your channel. looking for honest feedback

Hey everyone,

I've been working on a side project and I'd love some honest feedback from actual streamers and viewers before I push it further.

Not trying to sell anything, it would be free and this is a passion project. Just want to know if I'm building something people actually want before I sink more time into it. I figured it might be a cool way to get more engagement between streamers and viewers.

The basic idea: Every streamer gets their own page where viewers can create/submit custom badges they've made themselves. The community votes on submissions, and you can browse the top badges of the week or check out featured ones.

For streamers, you have full control over your page:

- Limit submissions to followers or subscribers only (to cut down on abuse/spam)
- Block users or remove badges from your page
- Assign moderators so you don't have to manage everything alone

Streamers can also create events. Say you're doing a week-long playthrough of a game, you can create an event for that week where people submit themed badges, then pick a winner at the end and you could add that badge as an obtainable on your real Twitch channel. Works great for picking sub badges or for the new Creator Badge Drops feature.

A few things I'd genuinely like feedback on:

  1. As a streamer, would you actually use something like this, or is badge management not a big enough pain point?

  2. As a viewer, would you bother making/submitting badges for your favorite streamer?

  3. Any obvious abuse vectors I'm missing beyond the follower/sub gating and mod tools?

  4. Anything about the flow that feels confusing or unnecessary?

Happy to answer any questions. Thanks!
