MushMS - A New Global v83 Server Focused on Progression, Balance & Quality of Life

Hello Maplers!

Our goal is:

No Pay-to-Win.
No forced HP Washing.

MushMS is designed for players who enjoy long-term progression, bossing, questing, collecting, cosmetics, and a more modernized v83 experience while keeping the nostalgic Maple feeling alive.

Server Stability

As many players know, v83 servers often launch with rollback issues, deadlocks, and save-related problems.

Because of that, we took preventive action and refactored the game’s saving structure before launch.

We believe the server is now much more stable, robust, and ready for real testing during Beta.

We also implemented several defensive measures to help protect the project against DMCA-related issues.

Community & Feedback

MushMS is being built as a fair and fun server, from the community, for the community.

We are not building a Pay-to-Win server.

Donations will be focused on cosmetics and quality-of-life features, and cosmetics and quality-of-life content will also be obtainable through gameplay.

We are open to suggestions and feedback.

Earliest version server that has cannoneer?

I don’t want a very modern maple server but I know Cannoneer came out in the latter half. What’s a good server you recommend that has cannoneer in it with the earliest version possible?

Thank you!!

[MapleLeaf v95] Super Beginner: a brand-new custom job

We added a Super Beginner job to our v95 server. Here's how it works.

No job. Borrowed skills. One guardian angel.

We wanted to do something a little different for players who like an underdog run. The idea was inspired by the Super Novice from Ragnarok Online — a jobless class that borrows skills from every other class and gets a guardian angel to watch over them. We adapted that concept for v95 MapleStory. The Super Beginner skips the job advancement system entirely — you never take a real job, but you pick up a handful of skills from every class along the way.

How to start

Hit level 10 and find Shanks in Southperry. He resets your stats, refunds every AP, and hands you a starter kit: Stars and Stripes, Pan Lid, Work Gloves, 100 Red Potions, 100 Blue Potions, and some Return Scrolls.

Your skillset

  • Super Beginner Strike — your signature. Hits a crowd, scales with level (up to +50% at Lv 100), 30% stun chance
  • Hustle (passive) — permanently raises Speed and Jump
  • Protect (passive) — permanently raises Max HP, Weapon DEF, and Magic DEF
  • Traveling Merchant — open a store almost anywhere (Free Market still needs a permit)
  • Power Strike — one heavy hit on a single target
  • Rage — party buff: Weapon ATT and Weapon DEF
  • Heal — restores party HP, damages undead
  • Haste — boosts the whole party's Speed and Jump
  • Flash Jump — second mid-air leap, scales with level
  • Teleport — blink a short distance in any held direction

Guardian Angel

No cast, no cooldown to track. Every level you gain carries a 30% chance she shows up and grants a random 3-minute blessing: Impositio Manus (+20% crit chance, +40% crit damage), Gloria (+30 accuracy/avoidability), Kyrie Eleison (holy barrier), Suffragium (90% knockback resistance), or Magnificat (+50% EXP from kills).

On death, there's a 25% chance she revives you on the spot at full HP/MP with 2 seconds of invulnerability. If you die at 98%+ EXP, the revival is guaranteed — 8 full seconds of Steel Body to turn it around. The whole map sees her arrive.

If you want to skip the job system and see how far you can push it, Shanks is waiting.

Server is in alpha. Rates are 10x for now while we work things out. Feedback welcome.

Why you should check out MapleEVO (Tower-based progression, casual v117)

Hello group,

Just wanted to write a suggestion post about a niche server I’ve been playing recently. Im not related to the dev, but I feel that this server needs more love and attention.

I’ve actually been following this project for like 3 or 4 years, it originally started way back as "Sjokkat", which was I think the first tower-based Maple server. The dev had to step away for a year or two because of real-life issues, but they came back and rebranded it as MapleEVO. It used to be v83, but about a month ago they upgraded to v117.

It’s currently in Beta and run by two people: Axel (the main dev) and Liz (who listens to everyone's complain).

Here is why I like this server (I played quite a lot, from extalia to royals, saga, dreamms and few others)

  1. Literally Zero FOMO
Playing 10 minutes or 10 hours feels rewarding, and now with work/family its important for me

  2. No voting and paying at all

  3. Pure gambling chaos
If you like RNG, this server is basically a casino playground. It’s all about chaos, luck, and fun. Starting with random drops form the mobs, gambling for stuff, different wheels, etc

How the progression works:
The game is built around a tower progression system. Right now there are 8 tower floors that scale you from level 1 to 200. You just climb the tower, unlock hidden portals, farm NX, gear and various currencies. then ofc bossing for special end game gear, even tho the hardest bosses still not cleared. Once you hit level 130 on a character, you get account-wide buffs through their custom Legion system, so making alts actually helps your main.

At the end of the day, it’s not a super serious server. It’s just a bunch of people who love old-school Maple visuals, hanging out in a meme-filled Discord and relaxing.

I probably forgot some of the features, but you can check those by yourself

If you want to check it out: mapleevo.site, you can fins discord link there als

Highly recommend OakMS to scratch your Classic OSMS Itch

No Vote2Win, no pay-to-win systems, no multiclienting, and no HP washing. Just a slower-paced Maple journey where progression actually feels meaningful and people know each other and helps everyone out.

What makes Oak stand out is that it isn't trying to be a high-rate rush-to-endgame server. It's designed for players who miss exploring Victoria Island, grinding with friends, hunting rare items, and discovering secrets hidden throughout the world.

The Dev will listen to your suggestions and actually make changes to the community's wishes.
• 1x rates with lower EXP curve
• No Vote2Win or Pay2Win
NX/Cosmetic Coins drop from monsters so you can earn cosmetics in-game
Change your hair, eyes, and appearance through gameplay

MAPLEROYAL 2 WEEK REVIEW

Part 1 Review of MapleRoyals

I've been playing MapleRoyals for a little over 2 weeks with my real-life friends and my wife. We're currently around level 80, and so far the experience has been amazing.

The people we've met have been very nice and helpful, and Party Quests are extremely active. It's easy to find a group for PQs. So far we've done KPQ, CPQ1, LPQ, CPQ2, and PPQ.

We haven't felt the need to grind much because we've mostly been doing PQs and socializing with other players. Because of that, leveling has felt enjoyable rather than repetitive.

Overall, the experience has been very enjoyable so far. I'll make another review once I reach level 120 and unlock 4th job to see how the game feels in the later stages.

I know many people complain about HP washing and multi-clienting, but honestly, those things don't really matter to me right now. I'm just playing for fun, and as long as my friends, my wife, and I are having a good time, we'll continue playing.

Current verdict: Highly enjoyable experience so far, especially if you enjoy active PQs, meeting friendly players, and progressing alongside friends.

Is it a risky time to be hosting servers?

I’ve been reading a lot about the recent lawsuits from Nexon targeting server owners.

Is it too risky to start one these days? Even with no monetisation I’m sure they would still target you.

The oldschool versions. Do you need to go to the next class or how does it exactly work in maplestory?

Like.. are you suppose to pick a new class everytime? Is there ever a reason to not upgrade? could someone explain this to me.

Lets say I want to play the like 2006-ish version?

Exodus, my take

(Disclaimer: I wrote this entire post myself, but used an LLM to clean up and polish my English before posting.)

Hey everyone,

If you look at my comment history, you'll see I’ve had my fair share of criticisms regarding Exodus. However, I wanted to make this post to share my actual experience because, despite those critiques, I truly believe this server deserves more players.

Here is why I think it's worth checking out:

  • Strictly No P2W / V2W: It is one of the very few servers where the owner (Shahar) promised it wouldn't be Pay-to-Win or Vote-to-Win, and actually delivered. Everything you can get from donating or voting is purely cosmetic, which keeps everyone on a completely level playing field. I honestly don't see that changing.
  • Active Owner: Shahar has been incredibly proactive. He’s constantly fixing bugs reported by the community and actively engaging with almost every suggestion that pops up, which is amazing to see.
  • No HP Washing: HP washing is non-existent here, which is an absolute godsend.
  • Great Leveling & Social Experience: The leveling experience has been great. I’ve been playing with a bunch of IRL friends—we formed our own guild, and we've been questing, grinding, and helping each other progress through the game. On top of that, the community is incredibly helpful; if you smega asking for help or ask for anything on Discord, someone will 100% reach out to assist you.
  • Clean Environment: From what I've seen, there are no hackers or botters. Now, since I mostly play with my group of friends, it's possible I just haven't run into them, but it’s still incredibly refreshing to see a clean server.

A few things to note: As for class balance, it feels okay to me, but I can't comment too deeply on that since I don't have extensive knowledge of how unbalanced they were before the recent changes.

I do hope we see more areas, bosses, and maps added to the game in the future just to have more diversity in content, and I'm optimistic that it will eventually come. I have no idea what the long-term roadmap looks like or how long Shahar plans to keep the server up, but it is definitely fun for what it is right now.

The team honestly deserves a bigger player base. If you're looking for a fun, fair, and casual server to play on, I highly recommend giving it a shot! Would love to see you in-game and see this community grow.

Private server virus warnings?

I tried downloading Fantasia, but my comptuer rang all sorts of alarm bells. I sent Fantasia.exe to virustotal.com and 41/70 security vendors flagged it as malicious. (trojan.zusy/usbleu26)

The Fantasia forum says this is a recent "known" issue with their recent update and to just whitelist it.

I get private server software might get flagged from time to time but 41/70?

One more suspicious thing, this was part of Windows Defender's info dump:
startup: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Fantasia.lnk

So the installer wants Fantasia to run on windows start up? Why should Fantasia run on start up?

Am I missing something and this is all 100% safe and white listable?

What's the 'go to' pserver if you don't like Multiclient and HP Washing?

I had played through the Closed Online Test for MS Classic. When it ended, I saw people talking about 'MapleLegends'.

I tried Legends and immediately liked it at first. The longer I played it though, the more disillusioned I became. As I reached 3rd job and beyond, I learned how critical Multiclient and HP washing was. Pair this with vets hogging important maps for leeching or camping area bosses 24/7 on a 6-channel server and I ultimately got sick of trying to play.

I moved on to Royals, still ignorant about Pservers in general. The 20 channels gave me more hope and admittedly I did have a better experience in finding open maps. Bosses were still hit or miss because of people nonstop camping them for some reason (Which is really lame since Royals had a quest specifically about killing 1 of each boss basically). And yet again, as I hit 3rd job and beyond, I came face to face with the same critical issues. Multiclient and HP Washing. Both are crazy important and I can't be bothered to engage in either. I think the HP Washing specifically really annoys me because as a Mage, it makes getting Int Scrolls a pain in the ass due to their crazy inflated prices. With Royals specifically, it didn't help that their economy is already crazy fucked in comparison to Legends.

Now that I've played both Pservers, I'm a little more experienced in the scene and I think I have come to realize I truly dislike both Multiclient and HP Washing. With that in mind, what do people suggest server wise, that don't engage with either thing? I hear there are servers that do take a stance against these things, but I don't really know which to pick.

Honest Review of Servers I've Played

Who am i?

Just an avid gamer who likes the rush from incremental progression games, not looking for nostalgia. So i tend to frequent more servers that are closer to the MapleStory build of today.

Why am i making this review?

Just here to give out my honest opinions on servers that i have tried and maybe help out people trying to find the server they want to try. Seeing an unexpected score for a server does not mean its objectively bad, it just did not strike me well.

StarMS (KMS but with a MUCH faster progression pace)

https://discord.com/invite/maplestar

Total Score - 39/50
Progression Pacing - 9/10 [ The grind here actually respects your time relative to vanilla Maple]
F2P Friendliness - 10/10 [Drops to a 6/10 once you get into eternals, you're not getting there within 1-2 months]
Community - 7/10 [Always populated, typical good and bad apples, not a higher score because doesn't have cooperation due to no instanced loot]
Game Stability - 6.5/10 [ No crashes but developers tend to bring the server down for maintenance, has been improving recently ]
Content - 6.5/10 [ Nothing special, its really just KMS but slight tweaks in progression and some custom systems ]

Ranmelle (Botting/Macro Fest with Big Damage Numbers)

https://discord.com/invite/BENx4Ja22Y

Total Score - 19.5/50
Progression Pacing - 4/10 [ Must be Botting / Macro-ing in order to progress when exiting early game ]
F2P Friendliness - 2/10 [ Swiping just 1 dollar can save you days of grinding ]
Community - 3.5/10 [ Has great and established player on-boarding and guides but some players itself tend to be super egotistical/sarcastic and treat you like a child, not it man ]
Game Stability - 6/10 [ No crashes but as a SEA player i have to spam npcs and runes in order to maybe interact with them ]
Content - 4/10 [ Main gameplay loop is just rebirthing and dungeons ]

MasterMS (Maplestory built to be an idle game)

https://discord.gg/hvYsvZ449c

Total Score - 36.5/50
Progression Pacing - 7/10 [ Its an idle game not much to say here ]
F2P Friendliness - 10/10 [ Server allows multi-clienting to fish for premium currency ]
Community - 8/10 [ Nicest people i've met on a server but the only issue is low player numbers unfortunately ]
Game Stability - 3.5/10 [ Sometimes can crash when multi-clienting, has a few bugs which may or may not get you jailed for 2 hours ]
Content - 8/10 [ Has pretty nice systems that work really well together for just an idle game, could be higher if the server updates more often ]

Kaotic Maple ( MapleStory as a dungeon crawler )

https://discord.gg/McmrBPXkpN

Total Score - 37.5/50
Progression Pacing - 6.5/10 [ Unique gameplay loop, its like doing monster park over and over on random maps instead of grinding in the same map ]
F2P Friendliness - 8/10 [ Have not progressed past tier 30 but so far the only thing i've seen that maybe i'm tempted to swipe on is for Pvac ]
Community - 6/10 [ Not much people, no collaborative content but the people are willing to answer questions and there is even a good guide that is in the works for beginners ]
Game Stability - 10/10 [ No crashes, no lag, no problems for me so far ]
Content - 7/10 [ Has really good systems eg. afk system / level washing, only thing i think needs work is the core gameplay loop, doing monster park over and over gets kind of boring especially when the maps can be quite huge ]

PSA: I'm trying out RoyalStory, Remiel and Rien right now, probably will make a part 2. If anybody has any suggestions on servers i should i try and review, just drop a comment. Also if any devs want to get some more feedback in improving their servers, im also fine with that :)

Been awhile since I promoted my server (RoyalStory)

Been a while since I promoted the server.

I'll be upfront: RoyalStory is built on Swordie v232. I'm not claiming it's some revolutionary custom source with hundreds of unique systems. What I've done is take the foundation and shape it into the version of MapleStory that I personally enjoy playing.

What you can expect

  • No pay-to-win
  • Free FashionStory - v265 NX Equipment imported
  • Free NX Gachapon
  • Global Hair/Face Stylist
  • Boss cooldowns removed
  • Full inventory slots from character creation
  • Instant 40-slot Legion Board Max (still need to level characters)
  • Automatic pet skill unlocks
  • Arcane River Symbol Slots Skip
  • Nodestones can directly upgrade V Skills
  • Custom Familiar loadouts and preset saving
  • Cubing, Flaming, Scrolling, Star Force, all automatic through NPCs
  • Items don't boom
  • Rebalanced meso/NX progression
  • Boss crystal economy adjustments
  • Loot Filter
  • All changes are listed on the website/discord

Quality of Life

A lot of systems have been streamlined because I simply don't enjoy wasting time on them.

Most features have dedicated NPCs, including:

  • Cubing
  • Flaming
  • Scrolling
  • Star Force
  • Familiars

Class & Gameplay Changes

  • Grandis buff added in Cernium and Arcus to reduce extreme class imbalance
  • Throwing stars normalized to +30 ATT
  • Various skill fixes and adjustments based on player feedback
  • Unisex character creation for nearly every class

Who This Server Is For

If you're looking for:

  • A competitive progression race
  • Heavy monetization
  • Daily grinds

This probably isn't your type of server.

If you're looking to:

  • Scratch the Maple itch for a few weeks
  • Progress without feeling time-gated
  • Play FashionStory for free
  • Enjoy a more relaxed version of modern Maple

Then we might be worth checking out

Again, im not here to pull teeth to get people to join, I just thought I'd shoot this out here again. I am a solo developer, most of my coding knowledge comes from working on older versions of maplestory since i was 13. You can expect slow development and not so revolutionary changes added, but I do what I can and what I enjoy. Just thought I'd share it.

Thanks for reading ♥

STAY AWAY from CastelaMS!

I won't even get into the circumstances for how the last season of Castela ended. Something related to GMs creating accounts and doing endgame raids on them with progression teams. Could be wrong idk, not an expert. This is the latest in a LONG series of relaunches that are billed as "not seasonal."

Castela overall has amazing design decisions and an excellent vision for endgame progression. The convenience and grind are perfectly balanced in my opinion. Playing is fun.

I played this rerelease DESPITE knowing the shady circumstances of the last launch/close. I chose to have faith in their developers. That was a mistake.

The server has always had mild P2W. Donation points for convenience, auto ACP, Hyper Tele Rocks and things of that nature. Most of it you could buy with Vote NX or through other in game currencies. I did not want to play on a fully Pay 2 Win server.

Today (about 2 weeks into launch) the devs announced they would be allowing Donation NX items to be sold in game and on their auction house for mesos. After an hour long discussion in their general chat with player feedback overwhelmingly being negative they decided to push the change. You have people earning 300m meso, buying raid spots, and securing endgame items directly from donation points now. Donation points > Donation Cosmetics > Mesos.

I wouldn't, and many other would not have played if we had known the extent of what is essentially legalized RMT. It's a shame man. I know everyone says its Cashgrabstela and I tried really hard to have faith they wouldn't do a shortsighted rug pull on their players by turning the economy into a purely pay 2 win one. I was wrong. You have their devs in gen chat pretending like it isn't p2w now which is just so so disingenuous.

You've been warned, stay away. Unless you like a giga p2w in which case the server will be up your alley.

ASTRAVIA MS

I know AstraviaMS has received a lot of criticism and negative comments, and some of it was honestly deserved. There were issues that needed attention, and at times fixes felt slow.

But I think it’s only fair to acknowledge when a server starts moving in the right direction.

The staff team has been actively working on fixes, listening to feedback, and pushing improvements. Things that were problematic before are gradually being addressed, and the server is becoming much more stable and enjoyable to play.

One thing many people seem to forget is that the server is still very young. Most players haven’t even reached true mid-game progression yet, so there’s plenty of time to catch up. You don’t need to worry about being left behind.

The totem farming and grinding system also helps all classes level and progress efficiently, making the journey much smoother for both new and returning players.

Personally, I’ve been having a great time. There’s always something to do, whether it’s grinding, gearing up, bossing, or working on progression goals. It’s the kind of server where boredom isn’t really an issue because there’s constantly another objective to chase.

If you’ve been hesitant because of older reviews or comments, I’d encourage you to give AstraviaMS a try and see how it is today rather than judging it based on its early days.

The server isn’t perfect, but it’s improving, and that’s what matters.

Much love,

Your fellow Mapler ❤️

KuroMS just added Forgotten Hollow, a new low-level region. We're trying to do classic v83 without the busywork.

KuroMS is a v83 server, and the thing we keep coming back to is that old MapleStory had a ton of life in the low and mid levels. Look at how many weapons and armor sets exist between 10 and 100 versus everything past it. The early game was where the variety was. The problem was never the content, it was all the friction stacked on top of it. The Maker quest. Fame walls on level 30 gear. Dead maps with four spawns. Forty minutes in the FM looking for a party.

So that's the line we're walking: keep the classic v83 feel intact, cut the parts that were just busywork.

Our newest piece of that is Forgotten Hollow, a new region for levels 40 to 60 brought over from OSMS. It has its own questline, a real farming loop built around scrollable gear bases so you upgrade your own equipment instead of fishing for Gachapon luck, and a trophy exchange that turns the grind into actual progression rewards. It's meant to fill one of those classic mid-level gaps where old Maple usually thins out.

Around it we've been reworking the early and mid game to match:

Maker unlocks automatically at level 30 now. No quest, you just get it.

Level milestones at 30, 40, 50 and so on hand out scrolls, Gachapon tickets and inventory slots, so the leveling stretch isn't dead weight.

Spawn density got a pass so the larger maps actually feel worth grinding instead of empty.

Fame requirements came off early gear, and the early scroll values were normalized so the low-level economy makes sense again.

We're also at a point where player feedback is steering what comes next, so the roadmap past the 40-60 band (Balrog, Sanctuary, and more) is being shaped partly by what people actually ask for. If you've got opinions on how v83 progression should feel, this is a decent time to have them heard.
