Got TWRP and clean Android 11 running on my iFIT console
Spent the last few days getting TWRP and LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11) running on my ProForm Pro Trainer 1000. Figured some people here might be interested, given the shared iFIT hardware and software across ProForm and NordicTrack.
I've literally replaced the entire operating system. It's now a generic Android tablet that happens to be connected to a treadmill controller.
I haven't done much Android hacking in years, so I was pretty rusty. This took a few days of experimentation, research and AI assistance, with plenty of failed attempts along the way. It was good fun getting back into it.
A lot of the work was debugging the hardware support and checking it against the stock firmware. I can confidently say it is stable now.
With the iFIT garbage removed, it’s very responsive and smooth. I’ve also installed Google Apps.
Very glad not to be messing around with privileged mode anymore.
I am using it with the Stride app that u/oo00_McNutty_00oo posted last month.
Quite a bit of messing around for a treadmill, but I've enjoyed it!
If people are interested, I can put together a longer blog post covering how I got this working, what went wrong along the way, and how to replicate it on the same hardware.
