A few years ago, there was this Marvel comics panel—I thought it was in Marvel Pride, but it might’ve been in Hellfire Gala?—where there was a giant dance, full 2-page spread. And in the background, teeny tiny on the right-hand side, Erik is bridal carrying Charles. Cannot find it for the life of me, but I need the screenshot for a PowerPoint night.

I have been prescribed 12.5 mg Androgel testosterone gel, while packets come in 25 mg of gel—so I’ve been prescribed half a packet. I’m supposed to start tomorrow, but my doctor is swamped/not replying to my messages about how to apply half a packet.

Do y’all have any advice about how to administer just half a packet? I’m not sure how to be exact, or even how to do gel from a packet. (Prior to this, I was on Testim gel and applied it topically dosing with a syringe, per doctor instructions—my insurance just switched me.)

Hi, all.

I am relatively new to having my own insurance (about to turn 27), and I’m trying to navigate the process of getting a CPAP machine.

I was recommended by my PCP for a sleep study. I’ve done that, back in March, and was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. My telehealth to discuss the full diagnosis is coming up next week. (They made me wait forever for the followup appointment.)

I have CareFirst BCBS BluePreferred Value Gold. I tried using their cost estimator, but it only pulled up in network DME suppliers. I have met my deductible (got hit by a car this year; it’s been rough), so that’s not an issue. It looks like prior authorization will be required, but I can get that through my doctor, I’m pretty sure, and I’m fine with going through whatever supplier insurance or the doctor recommends.

I am wondering:
- A) What will the process be to actually get the CPAP device?
- B) Roughly how much money am I looking at, given these conditions?

I’m not going to bother calling insurance until I have the prior authorization and have talked to my doctors; they usually don’t have answers until then, anyway. But I wondered if this community had anyone with prior experience who could help.

I’ve also read some places it’s cheaper to go out of pocket, but I know very little about what would be best? Any suggestions also welcome. Thank y’all.

I have been living in the North Bethesda area for some years, but I am looking to find a new church community after a good deal of childhood religious trauma (I grew up Methodist in the south). Looking for denominations that are progressive, open to questioning, and most importantly, I would love something led by queer folks, ideally women. (I am queer and trans.) Metro access is also fairly important, but can be worked around if necessary.

I’ve done some research, will check out Christ Church Rockville’s resources and am open to Unitarian Universalists—but it’s a lot to sort through, and I’m prioritizing queer- and women-led. So I appreciate any specifics or advice!
