Dumb trade? IDC. I’m happy

Almost a year ago I straight traded with my mechanic my beloved 90s Lexus coupe (160k miles) for this 00 Silverado work truck (150k; 90k motor swapped last August). My daughters are going off to college soon and I needed a truck to move em out. Also I’m older now so the lowered car was getting more difficult to get in and out of.

On the surface, I know it seems ridiculous but the Lexus needed a timing belt soon, transmission was slipping and noisy, it was leaking oil, and the only thing changed on the suspension were the coil overs. Everything works well on the truck. It leaks oil but I’ve already thrown parts at it and I’m waiting for the next oil change to replace the oil pan gasket; fingers crossed it’s not the rear main seal. I know the body is clapped but I’m so proud to drive it. She’s rust-free, and I’ve done more work on her myself than I’ve ever done on any of my vehicles: sanded and painted the hood, replaced full front suspension including rack and pinion so she handles like new. A friend wrecked his truck so he’s letting me have his SS rims and I’m saving up to fix the body and paint.

My fam and friends can’t believe I made the trade. Am I the moron they say I am?

Appreciate all the positive feedback to validate my decision, but expected a lot more opposition. I gotta figure out how to post this to a JDM or Lexus forum. No worries I'm gen X and am used to being insulted to then suffer in silence while still believing I look like Brad Pitt.
