Help! What's causing these wall cracks and what needs to be done to prevent further damage?

I've been noticing recently the crack in the wall seems to be getting wider in recent months (it was a barely visible hairline crack before that). What is likely causing this? What type of contractor needs to check it out? What's the most likely repair to stop it from getting worse? Pic #1 shows the main growing crack, #2 is a new hairline crack about 3ft from the big one, #3 shows both together, and #4 is the opposite side of the wall. Will appreciate any helpful feedback!
