After completing that Salvador Dalí one my brain needed something quick & fun to do… So I shredded thru this mini puzz of bright colored surfboards. Cowabunga! I feel better now.
He ate all his broccoli and egg, so he got to taste some of my ramen in ginger & coconut broth. Look at his eyes I’ve created a monster. I’ll never eat soup in peace again 😅
Having read reviews of this one being notoriously tedious I decided on a different approach, I would do the boring monochromatic areas first and just get it over with. Two out of three nights spent working on nothing but brown, brown, b r o w n. I think I’m now an expert on shades of sienna and umber. Thanks, Dalí
A note about this cut and size: this is from the Museum of Modern art in New York and it’s 840 pieces. So count-wise a little bit easier than the 1k pc versions out there. A random cut would’ve made it more pleasant; BUT This was a pretty generic ribbon/row cut puzzle with six basic piece types, sharply edged (ouch my fingertips) and occasionally false fitting (grrr). At times while laboring in the brown zones I resorted to placing a sheet of white printer paper underneath, to better scan for fit errors.
TLDR - adore this artist, did this puzzle hard parts first, not for novices, this was a surrealistic jigsaw grudge match.
Hiding out indoors from the summer heat, this puzzle was a weeklong trek through the jungle! After finishing the edges and the animal life I was left with big swaths of green foliage to hack through, with only my wits, my fortitude and my moxie. Have a look at my photos and experience some of what I encountered. (Bring a machete)🧩🌿🤔🌿🐅 9/10 well made, hard but fun.
Was doing great until I got lost in the weeds! Clocked myself at three hours thirty nine minutes to complete. A good puzzle, well constructed good fits.
A bookshelf of very punny titles!
Here’s one for the reader, the joker, the detail-brained and the pattern seekers. Something for everyone.
Included some close-up shots so you can enjoy the silly puns.
Artist Kat Faulkner should be sentenced to the pun-itentiary for these groaners!
My 2nd ever Gibsons puzzle. Really nice quality all-around.
A little pre sorting was needed because the colorful random jumble made my pattern-craving brain ache. First I pulled out the lighter wood shelves then the dark background. Then I separated all the blue books, and then the green ones. After that the box contents were small enough to dive into without going cross eyed lol.
Good fun! I’m bringing it to a puzzle swap this weekend to share the fun some more.
This was a four-nighter, with podcast and rosé accompaniment 💗😁 finished size 70x50 cm, fit well upon my board. Poster included though it didn’t have to reference it much as most of the butterflies are distinctly different. The edges were mostly solid white so there was that challenge… a couple of false fits and mixups there and one “leftover” edge piece that took me a while to figure out, lol… At the end it came down to the 3 large vibrant red-orange butterflies. ElenaEssex.com is the site for this puzzle - very enjoyable. 100% recommend!
Albert/Albie is a 36 y/o African Grey who late last year discovered the bliss of napping while hunkered down. During TV time is his favorite time to become a birb loaf. He’s healthy, he plays and scampers about the house all day long. Whenever he crashes out like this I have to take photos because it’s just Too. Freaking. Adorable.
This one was from a local puzzle swap, a whole lot of fun for me and the hubby (an avid comics collector.) He recognized some of the titles, and a couple of the artists!
Albie loaf about to melt onto the bed 🫠
This one is a classic large box Springbok from late 70s/early 80s. Got it from a local swap. Putting together the image was more of a challenge than usual due to the curved edges and the intricate design. Took a week of evenings slogging away at it, analyzing each random piece like an archaeologist at an ancient historical site. Fun, but hard!! 10/10 would recommend even if you usually prefer 1000-up, this circular five hundred piecer is deceivingly tough.
After a brief hiatus I got a fresh bag of used jigsaw puzzles at a local swap, and here is the first of seven I’ve got to last me through til summer. 🧩This 500 piece vintage themed collage by Re-marks USA was quick and fun, knocked it out in two evenings of nostalgia tv reruns. Even the husband jumped in to help - he found the Weeki Wachee Mermaid irresistible 🧜🏻♀️. Every minute of it was fun and had me fondly remembering family vacations of my younger days, from misty Niagara Falls to sunny Florida.
