Looked at my logs (looking at the difference in intake air temp [so air to the throttle body/after IC] vs. ambient temps) from last night's TNiA vs. last year same track....same setup last year less hood louver, ambients in the mid-80s last year vs. ~100 last night, I dropped my IAT-AMB min ~7 degrees (~20 min vs. ~27 last year) while still seeing the basically the same max (~40 deg). Race Louvers....they work to increase IC efficiency! Go cut a hole in your hood! Also...reduces f. end lift...feel it up the esses
100 deg. Heat issues were...biblical 🤣
Didn't set a new pb (currently 2:11) but fun in the VW Golf Sportwagen.
I did Friday only and had about half in rain. Still fun. The Vitours weren't as bad as I thought they would be. Awd VW Sportwagen did well.
Took the cutting wheel to my hood this weekend. Installed Race Louvers hood louver on my VW MK7 wagon. It's in the optimal location on the hood which is the low pressure zone behind the radiator. Hoping for a bit more overall cooling. Will test at VIR in a few weeks. Questions that get asked:
Rain ingress? Not an issue. Can run a larger engine cover (Tiguan) or just toss the underhood pad back in which covers the hole. I know several folks that have run these year around exposed/daily use without any moisture-related problems.
