Help me to identify this stone

I found this among a pile of clay dug out while making a well at my parents’ house last summer, during my vacation in Sri Lanka. It seems to have some interesting characteristics, such as light passing through it, typical yellow-colored crystal growth around the edges, and an interesting shape.

Appreciate any advice on this.
I have color corrected the photos so they represents the exact natural color.

Princess Diana’s famous engagement ring is a "Ceylon Blue Sapphire" - and it comes from an island with a 2,500-year-old gem monopoly.

A ring bit similar to the Princes Diana's ring

Most people know the iconic 12-carat oval blue sapphire ring that belonged to Princess Diana (and is now worn by Kate Middleton). But the story of where it came from is even cooler.

The stone is a Ceylon Blue Sapphire, mined from the Pelmadulla region in Sri Lanka.

For nearly 2,000 years, Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon) was essentially the world's only known source of high-quality blue sapphires. Because of this, almost every major historical royal collection across Europe and Asia features them:

  • The Stuart Sapphire and St. Edward’s Sapphire inside the British Imperial State Crown? Sri Lankan.
  • The ancient Roman jewelry found in ruins? Sri Lankan.
  • Even legends say King Solomon wooed the Queen of Sheba with gems from the island.

What makes them unique is that they are naturally lighter and brighter than sapphires found in other parts of the world, which tend to look dark or inky. Sri Lankans call their home Ratna-Dweepa, which literally translates to "Gem Island"

Just bought these! Can’t wait to turn them into earrings.

These are authentic, heated natural Ceylon Blue Sapphires, purchased from a friend at a fantastic discount.

I'm planning to craft them into a custom pair of earrings :)

I'm planing to buy this one for my wife, is it good ?

I'm planing to buy this gem. Plan it to make a nice silver pendant for my wife.

Gem is not that expensive, coz it is a heated 0.80ct Blue Sapphire, but loop clean. Had a certificate from a respected local certification entity in Sri Lanka. I really liked the color, clarity & the shape. Gem is from a local miner & some local artisan had cut & polished it.

How much does it worth? any ideas much appreciated.
I'll try to go today again & get more clear photos using a camera, not sure whether they will permit it.
