$1.5K+ Reimbursement outstanding for MONTHS
I have been waiting for months for over $1.5k of reimbursement from my previous therapist.
She successfully filed the claim and it was approved in January of 2026. They have sent her two checks now that have not successfully been delivered for whatever reason, and now I am pressing her to start a direct deposit pathway for direct payment so she can actually receive it. At this point, both her and her billing agency have not responded to any of my calls or texts for the week and a half or so.
I don't believe any of this is malicious, but I do feel like it is ineptitude. Are there any formal complaint pathways or resources for assistance to have this prioritized or resolved? I am unfortunately no longer in the same state as her-- I don't think that should matter but it keeps me from being more directly present in this process.
For more clarification on why I need to be reimbursed at all: I was paying out of pocket for all of my sessions for a year and a half because I wasn't feeling motivated to see if it was covered ( lowkey depressed hence the therapy). I finally gave her the information to see if she was in-network, and she was! So she filed the claims so that I could be reimbursed for my out of pocket expenses beyond my co-pay. The claims were approved, and the insurance company has been attempting to reimburse her who would in turn reimburse me. (I'm also curious as to why they aren't reimbursing me directly? I know she filed the claim on my behalf, but should/could I have attempted to file those claims myself?idk. Help! )
