FYI for anyone with a Birdfy Nest who’s been having issues lately!

I heard back from Birdfy support, and they confirmed there’s a known bug in Birdfy App version 1.20.4 affecting Birdfy Nest cameras.

The bug can cause incorrect battery percentage, temperature readings, and humidity readings, as well as intermittent display/connectivity issues

They said they’ve already identified the problem and that app version 1.20.7 is scheduled to be released next week and expected to fix these issues 🤞

If you currently have an active nest, Birdfy specifically advised not to remove or reset the camera while the nest is occupied. Instead, they recommend waiting for the app update and then monitoring the camera afterward.

I wanted to share this in case anyone else has been troubleshooting like I have. Hopefully this saves someone from unnecessary resets ….or from buying an unnecessary WiFi booster me 🙄

Help! Birds are nesting and battery is dying 😭

This is the first time I’ve had a pair of Carolina wrens nest in my Birdfy Nest (Ebony). They’ve been actively building for the last few days and seem very committed.

Unfortunately, the battery has dropped to 9% even though it’s connected to the solar panel. I’m worried it may die completely before eggs are laid.

Has anyone successfully recharged a Birdfy Nest while birds were already nesting? Is there a way to temporarily connect an external battery pack without disturbing them? My understanding is I’d have to open the box to reconnect a battery, which feels very intrusive.

I don’t want to risk causing them to abandon the nest, but I’d also hate to miss the entire nesting season because the camera died.

Any advice from Birdfy users or birders would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!🙏🐦

UPDATE 1: Thank you all for your help!! I tried every way I could think of to connect a charging cable without removing the camera, but the design of the nest box made it nearly impossible to access the charging port without obstructing the nest (maybe I'm just missing an obvious solution 😅)

So I removed the camera completely and bring it inside to charge. The wrens were away from the nest when I did it, so I'm hoping the disturbance was minimal.

I'll report back with how they respond once the camera is reinstalled. Fingers crossed! 🤞thank you all again!
