Please Help!

Hi! I'm trying to do a graphite portrait of my grandparents' wedding picture. I've done two preliminary sketches of my grandfather (I posted the better of the two) and it's nothing like him, but I can't define to myself exactly why. I mean, I'm not the best artist in the world, but usually when I draw someone from a photo reference they're at least roughly recognizable! If I could get another pair of eyes to tell me what proportions or features are off or what details would make it more like him, I would REALLY appreciate it! Thanks so much!

My Mom in 1960

I found my mom's first grade school picture and tried to recreate it - this was just an hour or two this morning. I'm pretty pleased with it, though I do see some things I would like to improve. I want to do another attempt I might actually give her - kind and constructive criticism welcome!

Just fooling around

Sometimes I like to put pretty colors together and see what happens.

Feeling a little lonely and thought this might cheer me up. Any style welcome!

Mostly prismacolor. I kind of dreaded doing the background for awhile, but it seemed to need something and I'm happy how it turned out, I think.
