Wholesome heckling?

There’s a lot of discussion in other threads around recent investigated fan interactions and it has me curious about what Valks fans think about heckling and chirping in general. My partner and I sit pretty low and have had some funny/loving/intense player interactions though we really go more so for the silly chirp or basketball chirp, trying to never insult someone’s off court performance/appearance/etc. The exception being bad ref calls and obvious bad sportsmanship…

I’m curious if this sub thinks chirping should not be part of the WNBA or if it’s a positive part of the competitive professional sport experience? And if you are pro chirping what are your favorite things to heckle with? If you are anti chirping what compliments would you give both teams instead?

Here are some examples that we witnessed/participated in recently:

  1. Called out different fruits during Sonia Citron’s free throws
  2. Asked Banham if she ever misses - she laughed and said no while shooting a three
  3. Meowed like a drunk cat (very effective but unknown if correlation or causation)
  4. Picked out opposing players with the best shoes and told them “I like your shoes but please miss” (is this appearance based? Maybe)
  5. Told Dileo “we want pancake”
  6. Told Paige that Evil Paige is better
  7. Watched AT get angry after a mom told her the only shots she was going to make was free throws (I thought this one was intense but the mom wasn’t wrong)

I’m a little bit seeking validation that wholesome chirping isn’t ruining this game that I love and a lot of bit interested in hearing yalls opinions 💜
