Recommendation: Asunder by Kerstin Hall

I found a recommendation for this book on a random blog -- it's by far my favorite fantasy that I've read this year! The world-building, magic/religion, characters, and plot all really surprised me in the best possible ways. If you've been finding that a lot of your fantasy reads are --even if they're good -- somewhat formulaic/predictable, I really recommend Asunder. The characters feel so embedded in the world, not just like symbols of our world, and each new location brings really creative dangers and possibilities. I don't want to spoil to much because I found figuring out what was going on really satisfying, but I felt like the somewhat snarky main character, realistic set of secrets everyone in the book is carrying, and really fascinating magic propulsive. I haven't really seen anyone else talking about it and wanted to recommend it to you all!! I loved the different layers of vengeful gods and curses.

Bingo Squares: One Word Title (hard mode), Unusual Transportation (hard mode), Murder Mystery (imo), first in a duology (the second hasn't been written yet so idk if it counts but it's coming!)

30 minute full body videos by CGX or others

Hi all! I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for me in terms of my large list of requirements for workout videos. I'm open to Caroline or another fitness person, but I have a lot of specific requests and just wanted to see if there was any other ones I'm missing.

I am looking for workout videos around 30 minutes, full body with dumbells. MAX would be perfect for me but unfortunately I use adjustable dumbbells and having to swap the weights out in the middle of sets is too fiddly and annoying for me. The best CGX app workout I've found is the first four weeks of Ultimate Beginner, which I've done at least five or six times. If nothing exists like what I'm looking for, I will continue to redo Ultimate Beginner!

Here is my list of requirements:

  • 25-35 minutes (up to 40 is okay)
  • all full body -- i find upper or lower body days a lot more taxing both mentally and physically (in terms of tendons, not muscles) and really prefer to do full body
  • works with adjustable dumbbells, so not too many supersets where you are continually changing weights
  • female trainer, with no or limited talking, doing the moves alongside me, with beeps/cues
  • timers for different moves -- i tried peleton but i hated that i didn't know how long we were doing things and how much they talked
  • ability to play my own music or sound while still having beeps
  • If there is talking, no talk about weight loss/body composition/appearance etc. Caorline's descriptions of form is totally fine but would prefer nothing beyond that
  • ideally it's a program where i can just click the next day, not choose a new video every day

I'm happy to pay for a monthly membership to any site or program that meets all my picky requirements! If this doesn't exist anywhere, I will just continue to do Ultimate Beginner, but I figured someone might know another trainer or program that would do all the things I want. I don't care about novelty/excitement in the moves, I just want to be able to turn my brain off and follow a video to do my strength workouts.
