What kind of Boot is everyone using?

I’m currently NWB in a boot for a partial tear and opted to treat it non-operatively. My Ortho put me in a standard black boot with a pump but it’s soft with the straps and plastic sides. I was at the grocery store and a kid accidentally bumped a grocery cart right into the back of my boot and sent me in a whirl of pain. Should I ask to switch to a different boot that is all hard to give me more protection or even a cast? I’m not sure if there is a standard protocol for what type aftercare people are using to protect the ankle. Thanks

Traveling the Maine Coast while injured

Good Afternoon, I am planning on tagging along for a 10 day trip up the coast of Maine starting in Kittery and ending in Bar Harbor. I’m going with a friend who has some flexibility on how long and where to go but want to see as many of the beautiful towns along the coast as possible. I’m currently dealing with an ankle injury and on crutches but have a scooter to help get around and sightsee. I know a lot of the towns are older and not the most handicap accessible but curious if there were any that would be a sort of red flag in regard to experiencing and getting around. I’m trying to make the most of the situation and not hold my friend back but she also wants me to be comfortable. Any tips from someone who been in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
