Considering employer health insurance benefit

Hello!

I’m considering enrolling in my employer health insurance. It’s $27-$29 per pay period or $10-$12 based on plan chosen and if I receive wellness credits.

I’m currently enrolled in Tricare prime.

The reason I am considering enrolling in my employer benefit is because I do not have a PCM and Tricare east has continually denied my request for a civilian provider stating I need to be seen at an MTF. I’m located in Hampton roads and we have several MTF locations, but none are accepting new patients. I have been trying to get a PCM for months to no avail.

I do have current referrals for specialty care that I receive through civilian providers and NMCP that will be expiring soon. I also have referrals I need, but cannot obtain without a PCM.

Would my employer benefit be worth while with my current issues? Would it be beneficial to enroll and also switch to Tricare select during tricare’s open enrollment? Can I keep my specialty care at NMCP with any of these changes?

I have never had OHI and am lost in how this all works.
